Primary Responsibilities

Face it, you rock at SQL. You sometimes get crazy with joins - just to see if you can do it.

 

Beginning June 7, 2021, as a Data Engineering Intern you will influence our collective success by creating the critical infrastructure that enables data to become actionable information!

 

You will join a group of high caliber professionals that manage our data ecosystem. This includes on-premise and cloud-based data warehouses and data lakes. Ideally, you’ll leverage your experience in creating ETL through your self-driven or school projects shared on Github or your blog.

 

On any given day you’ll leverage your AWS skills to;

  • programmatically interact with files onS3 
  • spin up and SSH to an EC2 instance
  • create IAM users and connect policies to configure programmatic access
  • leverage your understanding of VPCs to configure subnets
  • spin up a relational database such as Postgres

Additionally, it you’ll probably dabble with;

  • AWS Lambdas
  • ECS & EKS
  • Redshift
  • Athena
  • AWS Kinesis

Essential Functions

  • Learning quickly on your own and from others
  • Passionate about cloud-based storage, compute, networking, and databases
  • Leveraging your methodical and disciplined philosophy to contribute to our fast-paced scrum.
  • Collaborating up, down, and across the organization.
  • Perform full lifecycle Business Intelligence development, working closely with stakeholders and understanding the business ‘why’ behind our actions
  • Identify data sources, provide data flow diagrams, and document source to target mapping and process
  • Design and develop SQL for ETL jobsand database maintenance
  • Experiment with data models and data pipelines in AWS cloud environment leveraging data lake and Redshift
  • Keep current with Business Intelligence data trends and technological innovations
  • Embrace new ways of working by bringing your opinions, perspectives, and ideas to the team

Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

  • In pursuit of a 4 Year College Degree; Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Comfort around databases, ideally Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server
  • Awareness of SSIS, SSAS (Tabular), PowerBI
  • Solid understanding of data modeling
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and report simultaneously across different stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally, and written
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing BI Landscape

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of modern development techniques: Agile (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience with automation using but not limited to Java, C#, Python, Pyspark
