We all depend on healthcare throughout our lifetimes, for ourselves, and our families and friends, but it is notoriously difficult to navigate and understand. As an industry that comprises 20% of the US economy we think healthcare should work better for all of us. At Collective Health we believe it’s time for a new day in healthcare where as members we are informed and empowered to make the right care choices when the decisions are urgent and critical.

As an engineering intern at Collective Health, you'll develop systems that allow us to analyze trends, power our web portals, manage user data, process insurance claims, and keep our data secure. Our tech stack is a distributed system of Java and Node components with React based front end. Our infrastructure is based on Docker, Kubernetes, and Postgres. We've got a ton of interesting problems to solve around distributed systems, data analytics and predictions, system reliability, security, privacy, and more.

Interns at Collective Health are involved in every aspect of our software development lifecycle, including designing systems, writing code, and deploying to production. As an intern, you'll be assigned a mentor who will help you learn about engineering at Collective Health and help you grow and improve as an engineer. Our engineering culture is collaborative and supportive, and we value learning from each other. We care deeply about diversity and inclusion and have worked to build a diverse team where everyone feels respected and supported.

About the team

You will be working with a team of engineers that are responsible for the Employer Experience in Collective Health. It is a small dynamic team with a strong focus on data. You will learn to work with big data tools like spark, databrick in addition to Java, Postgres and Frontend technology. You will be part of a team that is responsible for transforming large volumes of raw healthcare data into easy to understand insights to help our clients make better healthcare decisions.

About you

We're looking for interns who are proficient in an Object-Oriented programming language, such as Java or Python. We prefer interns to have completed at least one software development internship before. We are looking for interns who are willing to learn, strive to improve, and excited to make a difference in health insurance in the US.
