Statistical Analyst Intern

More than 3.2 million businesses and institutions worldwide rely on Grainger for products such as safety gloves, ladders, motors and janitorial supplies, along with services like inventory management and technical support. These customers represent a broad collection of industries including commercial, government, healthcare and manufacturing. They place orders online, on mobile devices, through sales representatives, over the phone and at local branches. - Apply statistical and mathematical techniques to influence customer-facing investment decisions
- Learn the role an analytics department plays within an organization
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and effectively communicate the results of critical analyses focused on several of our key investments
- Leverage market, customer, and other information to identify patterns, trends, and insights which are actionable and beneficial to the organization
- Utilize analytical techniques to quantify results of current business activities and project future results based on business and leadership decisions
- Research and recommend innovative solutions to a wide array of business problems using statistics and mathematics
Requirements
- Major in analytics, predictive analytics, data science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or related field
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Enrolled in college or university as a full-time student
- Ability to obtain, explore, and interpret data
- Knowledge of basic statistical methods
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent communication skills
- Intellectual curiosity
Languages and Tools
- Experience with SPSS, R, SAS, Python, Spark, or other statistical programming language
- Ability to visualize data in R, Tableau, or Excel
- Ability to communicate results through presentation tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of SQL
