What You'll Bring:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) degree with 4+ years of applicable experience as an attorney
- Cloud/Software as a Service (SaaS) expertise
- Experience with global contracting for IT, Facilities, Marketing, HR, and other professional services and commodities
- Experience with data privacy, including GDPR, CCPA, POPIA, and related matters
- Experience with complex/global IT agreements, consumer data agreements, information security, and IP
- Strong work ethic with the demonstrated ability to manage and turn-around a significant and diverse work flow in an effective and timely manner
- Creative problem-solving ability with a focus on achieving client-friendly solutions while managing company risk
- Solid commercial judgment, including the ability to anticipate, analyze, and make recommendations
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task by prioritizing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated success in managing complex projects and coordinating multiple internal and third party resources
Impact You'll Make:
- With general supervision, you will work with our Procurement and Global Technology teams to draft, review, and negotiate strong, effective contracts with our vendors. You'll collaborate with our domestic and international Legal and Privacy teams on complex issues including cross-border transfer of data, and help to develop and refine TransUnion's compliance perspective with regard to Technology initiatives. Areas of focus will include, but not be limited to, data privacy, technology and technology acquisition services, telecommunications, professional services, consulting and outsourced services. You will help to structure deals, interpret, draft, and negotiate complex contracts, interpret and advise on global legal and compliance requirements, and provide counsel to management regarding issues faced by TransUnion. You'll be responsible for anticipating and protecting TransUnion from legal, regulatory and security risk, and advising stakeholders on business risks.
- Provide advice to stakeholders, including the General Counsel, Chief Technology Officer, and Chief Information Security Officer, regarding changes in the law, contracts, and other legal issues that may involve the company's short or long-term strategic operations
- Make legal decisions and make business recommendations for an innovative, dynamic, public company that is a leader in the global marketplace
- Interface directly with vendors on calls or in person while leading the contract review and negotiation process in conjunction with the Procurement organization and business, technical, operational, financial, management and compliance stakeholders
- Liaise with internal legal specialists to ensure applicability and sufficiency of existing practices (e.g. GDPR, Employment, Compliance, InfoSec etc.)
- Perform industry research on legal matters related to contracts with vendors
- Identify and implement improvements to drive efficiencies of contract review and vendor management processes
- Provide guidance when business or legal issues occur during the course of existing contract relationship
