Sr Director, Compliance
Position Summary
The General Counsel (“GC”) identifies and creates plans to mitigate legal and political issues relating to all of Kalderos departments and activities including but limited to: contracting, marketing, government affairs, human resources, service and product design, development, sales, and corporate financing. The GC maintains an awareness of legal and political trends impacting Kalderos’ business and timely alerts other Kalderos executives to potential issues so Kalderos executives may work together to mitigate risks as soon as possible. The GC educates and guides the organization in how to understand laws relevant to the various business functions and best practices for legal and political risk mitigation. The GC sets the tone for Kalderos’ interaction with the government and external stakeholders, with particular emphasis on stakeholders who may be adverse to Kalderos’ category-creation efforts, enabling Kalderos professionals to understand how to navigate challenging business situations that create potential political and legal risks.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Identify existing laws and regulation impacting Kalderos’ business activities and monitor for new laws or regulations that may impact Kalderos in the future
- Ensure Kalderos’ contracts with customers strongly protect Kalderos ownership over IP
- Ensure Kalderos’ terms and conditions accepted by users of Kalderos web applications and/or API framework evolve with Kalderos’ service offerings and ensure compliance with healthcare and privacy law
- Overall responsible for team members whose primary job responsibilities include engaging with government or healthcare stakeholders that
- Identifies, evaluates, and manages Kalderos engagement with outside counsel and lobbying firms
- Ensures activities remain within Kalderos’ approved budget and timely alerts finance of potential overages
Education and Experience
- BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree
- At least 10 years working experience in the US healthcare industry on topics including pharmaceutical pricing, federal anti-kickback statute
Abilities
- Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures relating to the US healthcare system
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
- Ability to actively inspire and motivate all levels of staff
- Ability to act persuasively to ensure Kalderos’ strategic objectives are achieved
- Outstanding communication skills
