Do you have an innate need to write, to the point that you sometimes find yourself narrating your own life in your head?

Do you want an excuse to interview leaders from around the startup world?

Do you want to work with innovative, fast growing clients who love your work?

If you answered “yes” to all of those questions, then this Content Specialist job might be for you. (If you answered “no,” it’s probably not.)

Responsibilities of the Content Specialist include:

  • Writing. A lot. Every day. Blog posts, case studies, bylined articles, and more.

  • Deftly navigating varied topics and voices as you write for various accounts and audiences.

  • Independently researching diverse topics and writing about them with expert-level confidence.

  • Interviewing our clients and external thought leaders.

  • Trawling the web for the best third-party research and using it to support the (written) arguments you build.

  • Meeting daily and weekly writing deadlines.

  • Keeping multiple accounts and projects moving forward consistently and reliably.

  • Weaving SEO best practices into everything you do.

After three months on the job, you’ll be expected to…

  • Meet all weekly writing deadlines.

  • Incorporate editor feedback on an ongoing basis (i.e., not require the same feedback over and over).

  • Effectively incorporate web research into assignments.

  • Adhere to the content team’s logistical requirements (e.g., file naming, updating ed cals, communicating about deadlines, etc.).

After six months on the job, you’ll be expected to do everything outlined above and…

  • Contribute to idea generation for client accounts.

  • Communicate with clients and other third parties with little to no oversight.

  • Interview thought leaders and adapt those interviews into effective written content.

After a year on the job, you’ll be expected to do everything outlined above and…

  • Lead idea generation for at least one client account.

  • Consistently require no more than copy edits on written assignments.

  • Consistently apply SEO best practices to written assignments.

  • Successfully juggle writing assignments that vary in subject matter, voice, audience, and more.

You may find yourself a home at Propllr if you...

  • Want to be around a team of accomplished (and published!) creative writers and public relations professionals.

  • Are excited by the prospect of being around innovative, fast-growing startups and tech companies.

  • Are organized and able to handle multiple projects and clients.

  • Pay attention to the news and enjoy staying current on trends and topics outside Propllr.

  • Are intellectually curious.

  • Are receptive to feedback.

  • Are a self-starter, an independent thinker, and a collaborative worker.

  • Have a desire to make a difference in the success of both clients and colleagues.

  • Want a clear path to promotion based on defined quantitative and qualitative goals.

Did we mention Propllr is a great place to work?

  • Paid parental leave.

  • Open to remote and / or flex WFH schedules (we are all remote now).

  • Great insurance – 100% premiums paid. And an FSA!

  • 401(k) with a 3% salary bonus, plus profit-sharing.

  • No tracking of hours.

  • Opportunity for commissions on new business created.

  • Annual cash bonus based on agency performance (so far, we’ve paid bonuses out every year).

  • Regular team lunches and regular team outings (virtual now, in-person pre- and hopefully post-pandemic!).

  • Outstanding team and amazing clients.

  • Great West Loop location in an old loft building right behind Union Station (for post-pandemic days).

  • Emergency expense reimbursement for non-Director level employees (auto, health, childcare, etc.) up to $1,000 / year.

  • $250 yearly match for employee donations to nonprofits.

In your cover letter, we’d love to see more than a recap of your résumé. Let us know:

  • Who you are

  • What you love to do

  • What you do better than anyone

  • Why Propllr interests you.

  • ...And include a note about what you’re currently reading and what you think about it.

We see this as an entry-level to junior content role, but what we really want is the right person, so we can be flexible. If you think you're a fit even if your experience doesn’t line up with this post, please get in touch with us ASAP.

We look forward to receiving your résumé and cover letter!
