Director of Email Marketing, North America
Email has been a core customer acquisition, loyalty, and retention channel for Groupon from Day 1, and we are now one of the largest email marketers in the world. The time has come for us to reinvent the way we engage consumers via email, and we are seeking a seasoned email marketing executive to lead that change.
As the North America Email Marketing Lead, you will be responsible for:
Balancing “send because we should” and “send because we can” to create an optimal consumer experience that also hits aggressive financial targets
Capitalizing on a deep understanding of consumer interest and intent to design and deliver timely and relevant triggered campaigns
Reinventing the voice of Groupon’s emails - both in tone and content - to reflect our brand and personality, and establish an ongoing dialog with our customers
Defining how our platforms, processes, metrics, and reporting must change to transform our email program, and
Helping our marketing, business, and product teams understand the business results - what’s working, what’s not, and why - and what we’ll do differently to better serve our customers and hit our targets
The ideal candidate has built and/or transformed an email program along these dimensions, and has demonstrated capability in the following areas:
Articulating a vision, and a stepwise approach to achieve it, with practical and meaningful milestones
Using qualitative reasoning, data, and relationships to drive alignment around a vision/execution plan
Delivering financial results while redefining the consumer experience of an existing business
Defining critical end-state metrics and goals, and the leading indicators that demonstrate progress
Developing and executing a communication plan that maintains stakeholder engagement and support
Representing a large consumer brand as an email subject matter expert internally and externally
Requirements
10+ years of experience in client-side email marketing, ideally with a performance focus
Deep understanding of email marketing best practices and industry trends, especially for mobile
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to be deep in the data and to distill executive-level insights
Extremely strong written and oral communication skills
A builder mentality
MBA or advanced engineering degree preferred
