Grubhub is looking for a Director of Media Strategy and Operations to maximize upper funnel investment performance, drive strategic diner acquisition planning, and optimize media execution. Reporting to the Vice President of Diner Acquisition, the director will be an expert on media mix, nationwide and local optimizations, data management, and attribution. You will be responsible for optimizing media performance by developing and executing a roadmap that improves our attribution and measurement, facilitates incrementality testing, and adapts to changes in the broader media landscape. This position can be based in either the Chicago or New York City office (hybrid model with 2 days per week in office).
The Impact You Will Make

  • Define and orchestrate the end-to-end media strategy, audience, planning and execution process
  • Lead annual media planning process across channels
  • Develop rigorous process to improve coordination and resource planning across marketing teams and with cross-functional stakeholders in Product, Data, and Engineering
  • Partner with our brand team to build cohesive and comprehensive campaigns. Collaborate with creative teams to develop media briefs and media plans
  • Ensure our media agency delivers optimal performance by serving as main point of contact for media agency and managing agency deliverables
  • Understand/optimize the performance of marketing campaigns; develop testing agenda to ensure optimal investment strategy
  • Make recommendations based on creative and media insights and ensure that the most effective channel mix is implemented at all times.
  • Test emerging channels that align with our audiences
  • Provide insights and metrics on network, creative and campaign performance
  • Work with analytics teams to design testing plans and measure ongoing impact of media buys


What You Bring to the Table
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of marketing and leadership experience. Additional qualifications include:

  • Significant experience in acquisition or retention marketin g
  • Experience working on an in-house marketing team
  • Expert in media mix, above and below the line channels optimization and attribution, proven track results in top leading brands
  • Strong financial and business acumen; critical thinker with strong analytical skills
  • Experience developing integrated marketing strategies and integrating acquisition within broader digital marketing efforts
  • Solid financial management and analysis skills. This position will advise on marketing budget allocation, and the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to optimize spend based on performance
  • Agency management experience; Exceptional collaboration skills with experience managing client/partner relationships internally and externally
  • Track record of driving results and leading execution on cross-functional teams
  • 4+ years of leadership/management experience
  • Proven track record in business planning and growth results for a top brand
  • Strategic, analytical and creative thinker
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the rigor and discipline to build the business and creative competencies that will allow Grubhub to continue to stand out in the market.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, very resourceful, reliable, energetic, self-motivated and knows how to have fun
  • Bachelor's degree required


Bonus skills:

  • Experience working with digital and/or e-commerce brands.
  • Previous work within the restaurant industry.


New York Salary Range: $160,000-$220,000
The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.
