Simpler Media Group ("SMG") is seeking a detail-oriented team player to serve as a Events Marketing Manager in Chicago, IL. This paid position is part-time (20 hours per week) and remote but may require some travel and/or office days. This position may lead to full-time employment with the company depending on the candidate’s capabilities and resourcefulness.

We are an established but small, fun, profitable and growing B2B media and events company with presence in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Boston and Paris. We create and operate leading digital media and live event brands targeted for enterprise digital professionals, including our leading online community (www.cmswire.com) and our annual physical conferences of 500+ attendees (www.dxsummit.com and www.dwexperience.com). These industry-leading forums serve to inspire, empower and connect our community.

The Events Marketing Manager will assist the events management team with both marketing programs for our conferences. This position requires a strong attention to detail, marketing and analytics skills, self-accountability, independent and creative problem solving, and exceptional follow-through.

The successful candidate will be tech savvy, comfortable with juggling multiple tasks, have a passion for learning new skills, knack for copy editing, sensitivity to deadlines and the attitude of a team player.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Events.

Core Events Marketing Manager Responsibilities 

Creation, tuning and reporting of paid media programs. This includes Google Adwords, Facebook Advertising and Linkedin Advertising campaign management with daily and weekly checkpoints.
Focus: paid media management, keyword tuning, display tuning, dashboarding and reporting

Assist with analytics and reporting for marketing campaigns. This includes cross-channel data included in Google Analytics and keeping data spreadsheets organized. 
Focus: project management, data reporting, analytics

Assist with marketing operations, strategy and attendee tracking. This includes email marketing assistance, database management and vendor and service provider management.
Focus: organization, product understanding, customer experience

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS in marketing or communications, or equivalent level of experience
4 years relevant professional experience in marketing
Exceptional task/project management skills
Experience working within a collaborative and cross-functional team environment
Strong written and spoken communications skills
An eager learner, willing and excited to learn from his/her colleagues
Experience with spreadsheet functions and reporting
Experience with Google analytics
Experience with social advertising platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Experience with Google Adwords and SEM
Experience working with Marketo (or similar marketing automation tools)

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Experience working with graphics programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator
Experience working with BaseCamp
Ability to understand and edit basic HTML; experience with DreamWeaver a plus
Experience with Google DFP

This is a part-time position, in Chicago, IL. Highly qualified remote candidates will be considered. Some light travel may be required, typically to our conferences and company meetings.
