U.S. Intermediary Channel Marketing Manager

Northern Trust Asset Management Marketing is seeking an innovative and entrepreneurially-minded U.S. Intermediary Channel Marketing Manager to drive brand awareness and product adoption by developing and implementing marketing strategies that attract and retain clients.

We seek proactive, energetic leaders who value collaboration and can think both strategically and tactically. This role will act as an active business partner to this segment and proactively lead the development, direction, and execution of the overall channel marketing strategy to position and promote our investment management capabilities. The ultimate objective of the role is to drive greater awareness and adoption of our investment products.

As a strategic business partner working in close collaboration with our internal partners, the Intermediary Channel Marketing Manager will lead a team responsible for building, driving and implementing strategies to improve awareness of our investment capabilities and ensure our investment products remain top of mind for advisors and gatekeepers. They will also preempt the needs of the channels - developing a content and communications strategy in response to investors evolving needs and the market environment.

The ideal candidate will combine an investor-centric mindset, investment knowledge and a keen understanding of distribution processes in order to create effective go-to-market strategies. A strong ability to influence both internally and externally will be critical, as well as, the drive and intellectual curiosity to find innovative ways to drive engagement among our key intermediary investor segments. Your Role:

  • Lead a team responsible for building and executing channel marketing and communication strategies to both improve awareness and adoption of our capabilities.
  • Partner with relevant business, investment, and marketing stakeholders across the firm to establish priorities, align work objectives and deliverables, execute marketing plans and report on marketing effectiveness.
  • Leverage internal and external sources to gather product, channel and competitor insights with the goal of providing recommendations to drive category distribution and market share.
  • Develop and maintain broad knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, and industry developments specific to the business area.
  • Create targeted messaging and thought leadership outreach to support the business and continually build the brand.
  • Build targeted content in response to the changing market environment to ensure channel needs are anticipated.
  • Demonstrate initiative and creativity in independently recommending and implementing marketing solutions. Analyze costs impacting marketing decisions and other related issues and develops cost effective solutions to marketing issues.
  • Present marketing measurement results to management. Monitor consistency of agreed upon tracking methodology. Understand parameters of a successful campaign, relevant analytics, and ensures desired results are measurable and tell a compelling story.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and solutions to senior management to obtain input and buy-in. Provide written and verbal communication to many different audiences on status of marketing efforts.

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years product marketing, channel marketing, sales or investment (client-facing oriented) role within an investment management organization
  • Undergraduate degree. Completion of, or working toward, an MBA, CFA or investment certification is preferred
  • Proven track record in driving engagement and adoption of investment products in any capacity (sales, marketing, investment specialist, etc.).
  • Skilled influencer with the ability to gain buy-in at all levels
  • Superior interpersonal skills - including the ability to work effectively in various team settings and influence senior partners is critical
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and navigate multiple stakeholders and competing objectives.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn new concepts quickly and, complete multiple and diverse assignments with the highest level of quality.
