Working for Trunk Club

When you join Trunk Club, you join the Nordstrom family. Our fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment is paired with the strong history and experience of a retail legacy. We have access to some of the greatest minds in retail and technology and are constantly creating innovative strategies to develop the ultimate apparel solutions. We welcome your adaptability, your curiosity, and your passion to contribute to our unparalleled shopping experience!

Who we are

The Consumer Insights team represents the voice of the consumer across the full spectrum of potential engagement with Trunk Club-- using research to inform, to inspire recommendations, and to guide decisions throughout all aspects of the business.

Who you are

We are seeking a highly-motivated Research Manager with both quantitative and qualitative primary research experience. This person will report to the Director of Research & Insights. Research Manager will partner with other team members on some projects, but will also be responsible for end-to-end ownership of other projects: from methodology design through field management and data analysis, reporting and results share out.

This role will require strong organizational, communication and people skills, as well as a penchant for data and data analysis. You should have a strong understanding of research methodology and techniques and should be comfortable across a spectrum of approaches, shifting nimbly from very D.I.Y. approaches to utilization and management of full-service research suppliers.

What you’ll do

  • Be a company go-to on the Trunk Club customer and customer experience
  • Work on a variety of projects, methodologies and business questions
  • Innovate: research solutions will be tailored to business needs-- help imagine how to use the tools and resources at hand to drive key insights and solutions efficiently and actionably
  • Execute on project needs as they come up, from tactical to highly strategic
  • Work Cross-functionally: Partnering with and supporting teams across Trunk Club (e.g., Marketing, Product, Strategy, Sales, Service, Merchandising)
  • Be a storyteller & strategic business partner, driving research that results in clear, actionable insights shared in a compelling way
  • Act as a mentor for more junior Trunk Club researchers, helping grow the whole team & acting as a model for research excellence

What your background might look like

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business, marketing, psychology, statistics or a related area of study
  • Minimum 6 years experience in research
  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative methodologies
  • Proven ability in translating data into actionable insights
  • Comfortable presenting and discussing findings and insights with key stakeholders at varying levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented & timeline conscious
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong in a data processing and analysis platform, such as SPSS or Tableau

How we work

  • With others. Work closely with cross functional partners in technology, operations, sales, finance and other product groups to develop a roadmap and deliver on goals.
  • With transparency. We have an open team room. No cubicles, no private offices.
  • With agility. This is a critical role for us, so flexibility is important. No two days are the same and it keeps everyone on their toes.
  • With open minds. We are committed to building a diverse team of people with unique perspectives. This encourages a healthy and inclusive environment that builds a more sustainable, successful company.
  • With pride. We value our people most of all. We invest in ourselves by applying our own strengths and interests to company needs.

A few of our perks

  • A location in the popular Chicago River North neighborhood
  • Team outings
  • Merchandise discount
  • Flexible work environment
  • Social environment with built-in bars, a rooftop view, and our very own coffee-shop!
