We are seeking a Marketing Technology Analyst who will partner with our Marketing, Product and Dev/Engineering teams to spearhead effective governance and stewardship of marketing technology.

 

This person will play a key role in ensuring proper tagging and reporting set-up to support the Digital Marketing Analytics team in accurately measuring the success of Peapod’s digital assets, platforms and campaigns. This person will also be a subject matter expert on the GA 360 Suite with a specific focus on Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Adwords.

One of the primary responsibilities of this role is to implement and validate Google tagging including technical configuration in Google Tag Manager – ensuring that tags fire properly and data flows so that reporting accurately captures the desired actions and behaviors. S/he will collaborate on a day-to-day basis with colleagues in Digital Marketing, stakeholders in IT and external partners to achieve this end. Other core responsibilities include GA 360 governance (helping internal teams and partners with various needs across the suite of Google tools) and analysis of digital assets including Paid Media performance.

 

This position works alongside analysts, marketers, developers and data partners to ensure the success and continuous optimization of our marketing and advertising programs.  The successful candidate will have a strong combination of data knowledge, technical skills and experience with marketing technology tools and processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with Acquisition & Loyalty teams on the Paid Search, Display, Paid Social, Paid Mobile, Affiliate and eMail marketing platforms to understand channel needs relating to marketing data and technology
  • Manage, consult and execute technical implementation of Google tagging across Peapod sites and digital assets in Google Tag Manager, working with engineering and developers to communicate requirements and implement solutions
  • Validate and troubleshoot tagging & tracking issues as they occur – communicating status/next steps until resolution with all relevant stakeholders
  • Undertake tag architecture analysis on a regular basis and perform ongoing tag management & governance, trouble-shooting issues as they arise
  • Analyze performance of digital assets, platforms & advertising campaigns and work with Acquisition & Loyalty Teams to product weekly, period and quarterly dashboards and reports
  • Create and maintain customer journey analyses for website user experience, providing insight on where value is lost or gained within the digital store and recommendations to improve.
  • Creatively report complex data in unique ways for consumption across many different roles and responsibilities
  • Be the subject matter expert on marketing technology – including online instrumentation, tag management, data feeds with external partners, and integration of marketing
  • technology across channels
  • Manage data feeds and own processes to create and activate 1st/2nd/3rd party data-based audiences; audit DMP & audience processes to ensure audience validity
  • Participate in new technology review teams – e.g. DMP/DSP and agency RFI process; lead the implementation of new marketing technology or tools (e.g. real-time content personalization)
  • Create and maintain tagging documentation

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis or engineering and 3+ years of experience in marketing analytics/technology in the ad technology sphere
  • Hands-on experience with Google Analytics and Adwords
  • Proven track record of success with managing Google Analytics tagging and configuring Google Tag Manager including but not limited to strong understanding of: data layers, tagging, variables, custom metric set up
  • Knowledge of DMP mandatory, Krux a bonus
  • Advanced SQL skills to perform data analysis and validation
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and/or e-commerce
  • Curious by nature with strong analytical skills, problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Significant knowledge of and experience with web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics); experience working with granular web clickstream data
  • Familiarity with web development and programming or scripting languages (e.g. python, shell scripting)
  • Working knowledge of front-end coding and performance best practices (HTML & Javascript)
  • Knowledge of online advertising platforms (e.g. Google AdWords, DoubleClick) and processes, and familiarity with tag management tools (Google Tag Manager or Ensighten)
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Strong project management capabilities, ability to coordinate multiple projects and prioritize
  • Strong excel capabilities Experience and comfort working in a corporate setting
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility with  Product Teams, Software Engineers, Analysts and Data Architects
  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience
