About The Role
MVMNT is looking for a Senior PR Manager who will play a key role in building the inaugural public relations department for the company, and harness the power of data and storytelling to make MVMNT an industry name. The Public Relations Manager will lead the PR strategy and oversee the PR activities to ensure effective communication with stakeholders, media and the public for the MVMNT brand. While we prefer candidates located in Chicago, we will consider exceptional applicants in other locations.
Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and establish the public relations plan and strategy
• Create and maintain press materials including: fact sheets, executive bios, news releases, key message documents, crisis response, etc.
• Lead internal communications and news alerts to staff, including corporate communications and newsletters
• Work with local, regional, trade and national media to share messaging with all relevant audiences. Create and maintain contacts for national, regional, trade and local press, keeping them updated on all news, offering company executives to speak on various subjects
• Develop both long and short lead PR plan to include general promotion of MVMNT, local and regional events, company growth announcements, CEO and Executive profiles, etc.
• Engage with the social media team on messaging for online audiences, ensuring messaging for the media and general public are in sync
• Research and recommend industry events for Executives to participate in (trade shows, conferences, speaking engagements). Where possible, set up executives with local/national media while at event to promote MVMNT
• Research and create nomination submissions for MVMNT in relevant award/rankings for industry accolades across local, regional, trade and national press
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field
• 5- 10 years of experience in pure public relations: pitching the media and placing stories
• Track record of media relations success/placements
• Relationships with journalists in either tech, fintech, transportation, or general business media outlets
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with creative and analytical problem-solving capabilities
• Copywriting and editing skills, with ability to rework technical content for a wider audience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Communications expertise that is national in nature and spans both external and internal disciplines, either in-house or at an agency
• Strong national, regional, local, trade media contacts
