The Help Desk Administrator will support the computing needs of the Brad’s Deals staff.  You will own all aspects of end user IT, including networking, mobile devices, phones, office AV equipment, laptops, and software licensing.  This is a full-time, benefit-eligible job that would be required to work out of our Chicago office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to end users in all areas of desktop administration across a mixed environment of Windows and Apple computers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems for all network devices (desktops, laptops, tablets, VoIP, and conference lines). Determine root causes of problems and recommend strategies to prevent recurrences.
  • Evaluate and apply security patches to staff computers.  Respond to security vulnerability alerts.
  • Responsible for the administration of corporate desktop environments including definition, audit, and enforcement of system standards and configuration, new hardware and software evaluation and implementation, hardware and software upgrades, systems monitoring, upgrade analysis, problem-solving, and software licensing.
  • Research, recommend, and implement key technological and procedural decisions geared towards improving our employees' productivity and computing experience.  Evaluate new technologies and develop recommendations in support of a forward looking IT strategy.
  • Maintain accurate software and hardware inventory
  • Create and Document Standard Operating Procedures

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Advanced knowledge of the features and functionality and understanding of issues inherent to Microsoft desktop application software including, but not limited to licensing and compliance per defined policies and deployment and upgrading.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of issues inherent to other electronic hardware including, but not limited to Mobile phones, tablets and related G-Suite Administration network fundamentals and troubleshooting, printers and scanners (primarily HP) and other PC peripherals and audio visual equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of anti-malware, e-mail filtering, browser filtering, personal firewalls, PC backup/restore, and recovery solutions is required.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in the area of desktop administration.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies and applications
  • Basic Networking Concepts: DNS, DHCP, VLans, NTP, TCP/IP, FTP, Firewalls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on technical, computer related subject matter, i.e., technical documentation, checklists, company / departmental communications, projects, and detailed and accurate issue descriptions and resolutions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle the demands of multiple constituencies and exhibit strong organizational qualities in all aspects of work.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of related experience in an IT Help Desk / Desktop Administration role focusing on Microsoft Windows and Apple systems.
  • Google Apps or Office365 support and administration experience is a plus.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Work during non-business hours as required (typically scheduled in advance).
