The Manager of IT Systems Operations is an operationally focused IT Manager that will lead the Systems Operations team. This team is responsible for designing, maintaining, and operating helpdesk toolsets, system monitoring platforms, and systems management platforms. Active Directory maintenance, onboarding/offboarding processes, and support for corporate development activity are a critical part of this role. This is a hands-on management role in which the incumbent will tackle some tasks directly, whilst balancing team workload, engagement with other departments, and routine managerial duties.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Global Systems Operations team, ensuring best practices and consistency.

  • Effectively lead the maintenance and development of systems management platforms, Helpdesk tools, alerting, and account provisioning/deprovisioning systems.

  • Identify and lead efforts to implement improvements and automations for routine and repetitive tasks.

  • Develop and maintain technical and procedural documentation.

  • Develop and execute system patching routines across a diverse set of operating systems and applications.

  • Coordinate Active Directory administration and automation (including auditing, account cleanup and optimisation).

  • Engage with Support Services, Systems Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to ensure new technologies and solutions are properly documented and managed.

  • Co-ordinate with Corporate Development, leading efforts to integrate newly acquired companies and/or separate divested divisions.

  • Participate in and manage on-call rotations and processes across global teams.

  • Ensure SLA’s, response times and recovery time objectives are met.

  • Programming of automation routines leveraging PowerShell, PHP, GAM, VBS, .Net, and Python.

  • Design and implementation of Systems Management platforms including architecture components, O/S deployment and configuration, application configuration and deployment, custom database design and implementation, and UI design.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong focus on operational procedures and technical efficiencies.

  • Strong collaboration skills with both internal IT associates and business leaders.

  • Previous experience developing and maintaining ITSM solutions.

  • Good knowledge of desktop and server OS technologies, VMWare ESX and Horizon, and Netapp.

  • Deployment and integration of robust systems management platforms including Microsoft SCCM and Jamf Casper Suite.

  • Experience with automated systems deployment and imaging.

  • Google Apps Administration including security settings, global configurations, migration and integration tools and processes, and programming within provided API tools.

  • Strong technical expertise with Active Directory automation tools and programming of routines and processes leveraging Dell ARS, Dell Quick Connect or equivalents.

  • Custom report automation and development leveraging PowerShell and HTML.

  • Familiarity with network and host monitoring solutions such as SolarWinds.

  • Experience working in a tiered support environment as an escalation resolver.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.

  • Strong TCP/IP Knowledge including DNS and DHCP.

  • 5 years working in an IT support or operations role in a corporate environment.

  • All other duties as assigned.
