Sr. Systems Engineers
Job Duties
Serve on cross-functional project teams as a platform subject matter expert. Design, install, provision, monitor, configure, operate, maintain and document systems and related processes for Linux systems. Perform Linux system administration and automation including server buildouts, inventory, asset management, and patch management. Automate systems infrastructure. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and optimization of the Linux and Storage environments. Perform root cause analysis, and advanced troubleshooting. Design, install, configure, and support VMware ESXi vSphere/vMotion/HA/DRS. Responsible for work assigned and deliver on commitments. Adapt daily to changing environment requirements and manage multiple tasks. Recommend improvements, maintain/monitor production and non-production systems to ensure infrastructure performs at maximum efficiency and security. Ensure timely resolution of issues. Lead team initiatives and coach junior team members. Support a 24/7 operation, including on-call support. Technical Environment: Linux Operating Systems, Red Hat, Oracle Enterprise Linux; storage providers (EMC VMAX, VNX, Unity, Isilon, Data Domain); backup technologies such as Commvault; cloud technologies (AWS), Red Hat Ceph Storage, server hardware (HP); SAN, NAS backup storage technologies; scripting (Python, Ruby); configuration management systems (Chef, Ansible, Puppet).
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science/Management or Computer Engineering or Information Technology/Systems or any Engineering field plus three years of experience in the job offered or with software design or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Management or Computer Engineering or Information Technology/Systems plus five years of experience in the job offered or as software design required. Required Skills: Experience with design, installation, configuration, and support of VMware ESXi vSphere/vMotion/HA/DRS; automating all aspects of Linux system administration (server buildouts, inventory, asset management, patch management); design, implement and maintain SAN, NAS and backup storage technologies; EMC VMAX/VNX; Python scripting; AWS cloud technologies; willing to support 24/7 operation, including on-call support.
