The Systems Administrator will maintain, upgrade and provide support for software, hardware, and networks. The Systems Administrator needs to be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and be available to respond to requests. The individual should be able easily to communicate technical concerns and solutions to many different people with varying degrees of technical knowledge as well as work with individuals in all departments to help solve their technical issues. The Systems Administrator is also responsible for maintaining our system infrastructure installing and rebuilding existing servers as well as other processes.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide systems support for infrastructure including, databases, application servers, and other software and hardware.
  • Provide systems support for infrastructure including, databases, application servers, and other software and hardware.
  • Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that may arise.
  • Monitor the system daily and respond quickly to any security breaches or usability concerns.
  • Patch systems and verify that firmware has been updated.
  • Regularly upgrade systems as needed.
  • Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Previous experience of working within a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends on a rotational schedule is mandatory.
  • Responsible for the availability and performance of the service.
  • Allocating, managing and escalating events/requests across teams. Creating system documentation and scripts to monitor all aspects of environment.
  • Updating and patching installed components as part of upgrades/security issues found.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong Linux experience preferably CentOSv6/7 and RHEL v6/7
  • Strong Linux experience preferably CentOSv6/7 and RHEL v6/7
  • Knowledge of HTTP(S), SMTP, LDAP, DNS, NTP and other internet protocols is desired. In depth understanding of SMTP is an asset
  • Expertise in Unix and Linux system installation, configuration, administration, the development and testing of backup and recovery methodologies, troubleshooting, capacity and performance planning, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, monitoring and alerting setup and security hardening.
