SPINS is seeking a world-class Chief Architect to lead the architecture of the next generation of our product suite.

What you will do.

As a Chief Architect you will be responsible for leading the technical vision and technology architecture strategy for the SPINS product. Working closely with other SPINS technologists, you will ensure the validity, stability, security and scalability of our systems. The role requires you to have a deep understanding of a variety of technology stacks, components, and languages; calling upon that knowledge to make critical technical design decisions.

  • Design and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.
  • Provide direction for the architecture group on how best to design, implement and deploy applications in a data SaaS environment.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization’s technologies and architectures and when necessary stay on or move off those technologies.
  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies to both management and engineering teams.
  • Gain organizational commitment for enterprise level architecture and initiatives.
  • Develop architectural metrics and reports for the executive, business and engineering teams.
  • Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations for how to position our technology in the future.
  • Provide a vision of the core framework of technology services and the components for your product which enable reuse by the technology teams.
  • Produce technical design specifications and guidance with the appropriate detail to the audience, acting as an advisor across the organization.
  • Investigate new technologies, or patterns of use and provide proof of concepts.
  • Assess, advocate and approve external technologies and technology partners for their suitability.
  • Build vs. Buy vs. Adopt: Cultivate awareness and opportunities for new & existing open source technologies; understand where & how to leverage them, or when it’s more appropriate to build from scratch.
  • Lead by example, delivering high-quality code that powers critical pieces of the product and/or platform; champion quality standards, transactional performance and scalability.

What you bring.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical architect/leadership position.
  • Experience on multiple API design and implementation projects, especially for enterprise products
  • Worked with back-end technologies and latest development frameworks 
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of scalable, cloud architectures and experience in applying them to real world problems.
  • Experience working with two or more of data related technologies and familiarity with others from various; Relational databases, NoSQL databases, Caching systems, Full-Text Search engines, Big Data systems, Cloud Platforms 
  • Experience working with, setting up and configuring any continuous integration and delivery systems. Also, any code quality automation technologies 
  • Experience working TDD, BDD, or equivalent environments
  • Experience with one or more cloud or DevOps services like AWS, Docker, Heroku, Digitalocean, CloudFoundry, etc. 
  • Expertise in object-oriented programming, relational database technologies, distributed computing tech, RESTful API, WebUI (HTML 5) and Modern JS frameworks.
  • A true “roll up the sleeves and get it done” working approach 
  • Excellent communication skills
