The Director, Product & UX leads the Product and User Experience strategy of the Global Operations Organization. This role directly oversees the Product Management, User Research, Product Design and Product Content functions. To be successful, the Director, Product & UX must deeply understand the needs of Global Ops and its leadership, and translate those needs into a relevant Product strategy, and strong experience design, while also ensuring technical requirements are clear to the Global Ops Engineering team, who are a close partner. This leader marries operational understanding, facility with finance, Product design and development, technical translation and the ability to transform data insights into beautiful and effective user experiences.

You will spend your time on the following:

Product Management

  • Product Strategy: Build a roadmap that maximizes the financial and operational impacts that can be built by the Engineering, Product Design, Data Science and Tech functions of the Global Ops tech organization. The Product Managers reporting to this role will use this roadmap as a guide for their own tools and squads, to prioritize, communicate and drive agiley to completion. Each Product Manager is accountable for their deliverables, and should know more about their products than anyone else, so they can quickly help any function, from Data Science to Product Content, as they support the roadmap.

  • Experiments: Create strategy that ensures new releases undergo appropriate AB testing, that they reach significance, and that we can measure and quantify the impact of changes, leveraging Birdcage/Finch, or time studies.

  • Product Ownership: This role and the team of Product Managers oversee all Agent tools, Customer-facing Contact Us product, and all Editorial tools.

UX

  • User Research: Study, document and make recommendations around experience opportunities across Merchants, Customers and Agents. Lead the products to a user-centered experience to drive key metrics.

  • User Design: Leverage research and data insights to lead experience design for Global Ops products. Partner with Product Design team to ensure alignment with Groupon Product Design best practices.

Product Content

  • Automation: Work with AI Trainers to create and edit content that can leveraged for automation learning, balancing being customer-friendly and supremely helpful .

  • Agent: Craft and maintain talking points, macros and snippets for agents that are integrated seamlessly into their tools to encourage natural and high-quality conversations. Partner with RevGen teams to launch content that transforms agents from a cost, to a benefit.

  • Product: Understand and maximize NLP/Search schemas to ensure customer-facing content can be easily found by the user.

 

We are excited to talk to you if you have:

  • 8-10 years experience managing large, multi-focus teams; global team management a bonus

  • At least 5 years experience managing visual design and/or product, with a focus on customer/user empathy and problem solving

  • Can easily hop between a conversation with a non-technical leader and an Engineering team working on a new Product

  • Bachelors required, MBA or MS a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to build, launch & integrate new offerings or products while simultaneously managing stakeholders within the business

  • The ability to build and leading teams including: hiring, training, coaching, developing, and managing performance

  • Pushes team to improve new and existing processes using Lean or Agile management tools

  • An eye for impact and business case creation to ensure teamwork has real, quantifiable benefit, leveraging a demonstrated facility with finance and analytics

  • Can effectively manage multiple, high-level teams at once

  • Superior attention to detail; Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong bias for action; tenacious and determined

  • Willing to take realistic personal and business risks
