Group Product Manager / Director, Merchant Products
Groupon is building the daily habit in local commerce, offering a vast mobile and online marketplace where people discover and save on amazing things to do, see, eat and buy. The success of Groupon depends on having a deep and broad selection of small businesses for consumers to explore. Groupon’s Merchant Products team is tasked with building products that get merchants excited to join Groupon and become successful on it. The products that the team builds enable small businesses to attract and retain customers by providing them with customizable and scalable marketing tools and services to profitably grow their businesses.
Although more than 1m businesses have been built on Groupon, there are still many local merchants who could unlock more potential through working with Groupon the local commerce problem is far from solved. The Merchant products team is on a mission to make Groupon an indispensable tool for every local business.
Responsibilities:
As the head of product for the merchant team, you will -
Work closely with business and product leaders in the company and formulate the merchant strategy for Groupon. You will have huge impact and influence the direction of the company
Lead a Berlin-based team of PMs to build the vision and product roadmap for the team.
Collaborate deeply with engineering and design leaders in crafting and launching web and mobile products to be used by merchants worldwide.
Deep dive with merchants;- understand who they are and how we can solve their problems
Be a champion of Groupon’s merchants and advocate their point of view within the company
Grow and support a talented team of PMs and take pride in building high-impact products
Be the glue between PM/engineering team located in Berlin and business teams located in Chicago
Requirements:
10+ years of experience as a Product Manager with 3+ years as a manager of PMs
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in CS or equivalent education required. MBA helpful, but not required
Demonstrated ability in owning a large product area, building multi-year vision and roadmaps based on data and customer insights
Launched multiple successful products, preferably on multiple platforms. Demonstrated ability to build MVPs to test hypotheses, analyze results, and iterate rapidly
Prior B2B experience is a huge plus
Ability to be a product evangelist, utilizing technical knowledge and influence to gain buy-in from internal stakeholders
Ability to simplify complex information and communicate with clarity
Position is based in Chicago; frequent travel required to Berlin and Palo Alto
