JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Purpose:

Provide analysis, recommendations, and support related to implementation of product initiatives for specific product line including product strategies, rate revisions, new product development, and process improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Become an expert on products and partner with Product Manager to execute on product strategies.
  • Direct and monitor product rate revision implementations with cross-functional areas.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product strategies, business productivity or service to our agents and customers, recommend solution alternatives, and coordinate with other areas to implement improvements.
  • Research production issues; provide solutions and/or track & monitor progress on any IT fixes needed to resolve issue.
  • Act as liaison between PM and IT & Testers/Business Analysts for product initiatives.
  • Responsible for leading initiatives for the business and coordinating with the IT in leading product line initiatives including plan development, scheduling and coordinating team member deliverables, monitor implementation progress, and adjust when goals are not being met.
  • Anticipate potential problems, develop contingencies and solution alternatives, and recommend a solution with consideration of resources, prioritization and financial impact
  • Build high level IT requirements as needed or provide feedback and support on requirement creation process
  • Provide clarification/decisions for questions arising from IT and Testers during project implementation
  • Communicate effectively throughout the organization to successfully influence project scope, design and outcome
  • Collaborate with departments outside of product management, including information technology, testing, marketing, claims, and legal compliance
  • Build a network of relationships throughout the National General organization

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 2+ years of P&C personal lines and/or commercial vehicle insurance industry experience
  • Ability to learn new applications and systems
  • Ability to process complex data from multiple sources
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • Works independently with little supervision but also a good team player
  • Intermediate project management skills

Desired Skills:

  • Personal lines insurance industry experience, preferably NGIC experience
  • In-depth knowledge of NPS system
  • NGIC P&C personal lines and/or commercial vehicle product knowledge
