Who you are

  • Have in depth knowledge of data management systems, processes and procedures – how to acquire, understand, control and distribute data and information.
  • Exposure and experience working in big data environments.
  • Demonstrable experience working with other product managers to conceptualize and define data products.
  • Able to work with architects and technical leads to translate business requirements into technical requirements for implementation. 
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools like Tableau and Microstrategy (Tableau preferred). 
  • Project management experience in fast-paced, agile development teams with a proven track record of being organized and detail-oriented.
  • Utilization of relational database structure or data modeling.
  • Excellent collaboration skills in order to effectively work with engineers, business leaders, and data scientists to create great product experiences for both customers and employees.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills that can be used to define opportunities and solutions to solve company data needs.
  • Strong communication skills in order to help effectively convey the vision and values/objectives of all initiatives being worked on. Communication formats may include emails, presentation decks, face-to-face meetings, and dashboards.
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work within a rapidly evolving solutions-oriented environment.
  • Proven success in gaining cooperation in situations without any direct authority. Ability to win the confidence of multiple stakeholders from various departments and backgrounds.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt, while also being comfortable with ambiguity, unsolved problems, and uncertainty.
  • Success in working on and balancing multiple, concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment quickly adapting to changing customer and business needs.
  • Experience leading teams through the Agile Scrum methodology participating in agile rituals such as daily standups, grooming, planning and retrospectives.

What your background may look like 

  • 3+ years of experience in a product management role 
  • 5+ years of experience in large, high volume data environments 
  • Bachelor's Degree above or equivalent. Math, MBA or Statistics preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Product Management certification; MBA preferred
  • 3+ years of direct experience working in Dual Track Scrum leading teams using the Agile Scrum methodology 

What you'll do

  • Lead and define a data management strategy to enable cross-business function and enterprise insights to inform and optimize strategic and operational decisions and activities to drive business and customer objectives forward.
  • Work closely with the business functional teams, strategy, engineering, and management to develop and advance our analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Understand the business and functional KPI’s and their direct relationship/translation into business intelligence needs.
  • Work directly with engineering and business groups to prioritize development initiatives, maximizing the effectiveness of allotted development resources. Drive decisions across all teams and know when to escalate. 
  • Act as a data guru for the entire company, documenting new data sources, field definitions, data flow that supports business processes, etc. and educate business users on them.
  • Work with all aspects of the business (business analytics, finance, product merchandising, marketing, sales, operations, service, etc) in order to gain an understanding of data needs.
  • Work closely with Data Services technical leads and the BI developers to pass along project requirements, validate new solutions and help prioritize work, and then drive all initiatives through the product development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and lead project management activities for the data services organization, to ensure delivery of the defined data management strategy.
  • Build and maintain a 12 month roadmap that communicates the focus and direction of the data services objectives, while developing a strong backlog of opportunities that will help achieve these objectives.
  • Motivate the team by ensuring all team members understand the product vision, roadmap prioritization, and the value and objectives of all initiatives being worked on, and effectively communicate how the product vision and roadmap links to Trunk Club’s strategic direction.
  • Develop the product’s objectives and key results (OKRs) and maintain a product scorecard showing progress to those results. Perform and report on pre/post launch analysis of each product initiative focused on financial results.
  • Build strong opportunity assessments to inform prioritization and ensure the most valuable and usable initiatives are being addressed
