NowPow, whose name is a play on knowledge is power, is a women-owned and led technology business based on Chicago’s south side. NowPow’s multi-sided platform is a personalized community referral management solution that enables care professionals – social workers, physicians, justice workers – to manage and close the loop on health and social service referrals and also directly supports patients, members, and clients in their own self care. NowPow helps people get the care they need, whether they are managing chronic health and social conditions or just staying well.

The Role:

The Product Development Department manages the company’s entire product line with the vision of delivering elegant, intuitive, and game-changing products. At a high level, the PD department uses their understanding of stakeholders and market knowledge to predict the direction of the product suite and their practical and technical skills to translate and communicate these developments to the engineering team, other NowPow departments, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Qualifications Assist with product roadmap development, communication, and maintenance.
• Manage analyzing NowPow’s Ideas Portal to identify high potential functionality being suggested
• Work cross-functionally across departments to understand and align product efforts throughout the company.
• Facilitate the release planning process by scoping and prioritize release work based on business strategy, customer impact, and technical capabilities.
• Assist in articulating and communicating product vision, competitive advantages, and product positioning.
• Assist in developing business requirements for new functionality and communicate requirements to the engineering team. Work closely with engineers to achieve business requirements.
• Collaborate with product designer to create UI mockups of new product features based problems identified in user research and validate solutions through user testing.
• Understand user base by owning knowledge of the users, market, and customers.
• Research market and competition by comparing the NowPow’s product suite to competitors' functionality.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 2 + years of work experience in product management or as an associate product manager at a software company
• Adept at writing business requirements and strong prioritization skills according to customer and business impact
• Excellent analytical, organization, and communication skills. Can present effectively to many different audiences.

Recommended:

• Experience working on Agile software teams and creating jointly owned goals and metrics.
• Familiar with healthcare or social services and standards in exchanging healthcare data
• Strong communication and leadership skills that foster cross-team collaboration and alignment of key outcomes and objectives
• Demonstrates a passion for social entrepreneurship or leveraging technology to address social challenges.
• Experience with UI/UX design, Design Thinking, and prototyping tools.
• Proven history of successfully managing and delivering large, cross-functional projects on time and with high quality.
• Quick learner with a commitment to quality who is comfortable navigating ambiguity in a start-up environment.

• Ability to translate complex problems and ideas into easily understood descriptions
