Product Manager at Eight Bit Studios

So you want to make a big impact on a growing team that’s doing big things? Then we want to hear from you! YEAH, YOU!

At Eight Bit Studios, we specialize in mashing up User Experience, Design and Development in fun new ways. Our team is made up of hardworking and skilled UX Strategists, Digital Product Designers, Developers, Product + Project Managers, and QA Analysts who care about delivering great work that we can all take pride in.

When you join Eight Bit, you will get a chance to collaborate with some of the nation’s most interesting business and product leaders. We take care to vet our client work so it aligns with our team and company goals. We're not talking about working with internal teams upon internal teams, we're talking about being on the ground floor, working with truly engaging people doing truly exciting things.

OK, so where do you fit in, you product maverick?

Eight Bit Studios is looking for an organized and collaborative Product Manager to join our team. You must be able to work on site in Chicago and you must actually love what you do. We’re looking for a leader who is super adaptable and likes to live in the nexus of project, product and relationship management, collaborating closely with our user experience, product design, and development pros to create incredible and inclusive digital products.

As a Product Manager, you will bring your legacy of successful execution of mobile and web product strategy to our collaborative environment. You will be able to quickly assess situations and make recommendations for key decisions. You will have end-to-end ownership of our client’s products and will own the entire product roadmap - from sea to shining sea. You will work closely with our clients to guide strategy and direction, while staying tight with our design and engineering teams to drive planning, delivery of new features, and execution of the roadmap. You’ll be working through this lifecycle for multiple projects, each with their own teams, simultaneously, so you’ll need solid organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and a gut level understanding of when and how to say ‘no’ in order to manage the various (and sometimes competing) needs and priorities. Through it all, you will keep an open analytical mind, make data your bestie, and be a champion of the user.

Are you still with us? Great, now here’s what you need for the role:

  • 5+ years working in product management with agile methodologies in a mobile and web development environment - tech consultancy experience gets you brownie points

  • A deep understanding of how to bring strategy, research, UX/UI design, and development together to build incredible products

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with experience in performing rapid A/B testing with closed loop reporting

  • Demonstrated success working holistically and cross-functionally to deliver results on time and on budget, plus the foresight to call it out if either of those things are going off the rails

  • A solid method of keeping up with new requests and maintenance asks, distilling asks to feature sets, and breaking them down into packets of work for your team

  • Ability to understand business objectives and the needs of our clients and translate those needs into real solutions. You make sure clients know they are an essential part of the team and that you are the product expert for their feedback, questions, and troubleshooting

  • SCRUM certification would be pretty dandy too!

And here’s why we think working at Eight Bit is all that and a bag of chips:

We recognize that the key to our ability to deliver on great digital products is tied to creating an inclusive environment where people can do their best work. We care a great deal about balancing our culture and work/life stuff so our life-friendly employee benefits package includes generous vacation time + summer, fall and winter breaks (that’s right- we’re closed 4 weeks a year), parental leave, and flexible work schedules along with super fun cultural activities, an open and supportive work environment, plus competitive compensation.

So...what’s next?

If you'd like to throw your hat in the ring to be our next great Product Manager, please send an email our way at [email protected].
