LuminAID is looking to hire a highly motivated Temporary Supply Chain & Product Manager from October 2018 through March 2019.

The temporary position consists of two main phases in order to replace two employees going on Maternity Leave. The first phase, spanning from October-December, will primarily focus on Supply Chain & Logistics. The second phase, spanning from January-March, will focus on Supply Chain & Product Management.  We are hoping to find a candidate interested in both phases; however, if you are more interested in a 3-month position for either role, we welcome all applicants.

Phase 1 Logistics & Suppler Chain Manager: October - December

Do you like getting things done, solving puzzles, and never, ever* being bored?  Our growing customer base spans the retail, corporate, and nonprofit sectors, with shipments going to destinations all over the world.  Whether it’s ensuring our ecommerce customers get their Christmas gifts on time, coordinating a relief aid shipment overseas, or negotiating a better rate with a supplier, this job is much more than getting things from Point A to Point B.  In the first phase of this position, you will work with shipping and warehouse vendors to coordinate shipments, use our online software to manage shipments and inventory levels, strategize with the sales and production team to fulfill orders, and manage our warehouse staff to ensure efficient operations and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage our US, China, and European warehouse operations
  • Strategically plan and coordinate production schedule and the transportation/exchange of goods from warehouse to customer
  • Create shipping documentation according to laws/regulations of export/import country and customer specifications or requests
  • Communicate order details and information effectively to factory coordinator, freight forwarders, and other relevant parties
  • Ensure quality control measures are carried out to meet minimum quality standards and reduce defect/return rates
  • Negotiate best prices and rates with vendors
  • Communicate shipping challenges and delays with relevant team members
  • Maintain and update inventory software, shipping and product references (internal and external)
  • Maintain and analyze data to assess areas of cost-savings and implement improvements

Phase 2 Supply Chain & Product Manager: January - March

Are you interested in overseeing new product development projects at LuminAID and managing our factory relationships to ensure they are producing the highest quality, highest performing products possible? For this role, we're looking for someone with excellent communication skills who can communicate technical issues with our factories and teams. You'll manage a small team in China & the US and be responsible for our current product lines, as well as new products under development. We need someone who can keep a technical eye on product details, while maintaining a bird's-eye-view of a production schedule, marketing schedule, and sales plan at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationship with our factories and suppliers in China and maintain close communication with them on a daily basis about production, quality control, and schedules.
  • Plan new product development projects for LuminAID and manage current product development projects underway.
  • Oversee product updates and determine optimum period to phase updates into production runs.
  • Oversee quality control procedures for products and relay any quality issues in the US to China. Schedule quality control audits as needed.
  • Work closely with factories to identity communication issues and make sure there are no delays in production or shipments.

This role will require you to travel to China at least once. The ideal candidate will have a technical or analytical background and be extremely detail-oriented. If you are interested in learning more about a start-up environment and exploring two very exciting roles/responsibilities in the Supply Chain, Logistics, and Manufacturing space, this role is for you! Those interested in only one phase will be considered, but preference will be given to those capable in both.
