The Local Intelligence team at Groupon is looking for economists and data scientists with at least a PhD and research interests in Behavioral Economics and/or Experimental Economics.  The ideal candidate will have expertise in programming and querying languages, and experience/willingness to learn Hadoop,  Hive, and Spark.  You will collaborate with a team of brilliant data scientists, economists, engineers and product managers and will apply your expertise in these areas:

• Designing, executing and measuring the results of large scale experiments

• Interpreting and communicating insights and findings to product, service, and business managers

• Application of economic and econometric principles to improve Groupon’s marketplace

• Going into uncharted territory with bold new ideas, and going the last mile on execution

Requirements:

• PhD degree in economics or econometrics

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrable ability to deliver compelling fact-based presentations

• Experience with R or Python

• Experience with SQL is a plus

• Experience with big data technologies like Spark and Hive is a plus
