Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing of North American Foodservice Appetizers Marketing, this individual will support the US and Canadian Foodservice Appetizer business. The Sr. Brand Manager will act as a strategic partner with sales, innovation, and other cross-functional groups with the goal of growing our US and Canadian foodservice appetizer business. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and financial acumen, dynamic communication skills, the ability to create and present inspiring propositions through storytelling, and a passion for food. Responsibilities include P&L management, performance monitoring, data analysis, demand forecasting, innovation launch planning, sales tool development and budget ownership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Profitable growth

  • Contributes to building the portfolio strategy into Annual Operating Commitment (AOC) brand plans which support and enhance the Brand Positioning.
  • Participation in the development of Long Range Plans, summarizing key initiatives for future growth based on brand stretch potential, competitive landscape and relevant consumer/category insights.
  • Commercialize portfolio renovation and innovation (pricing, targets, branding, volume commitments, etc.) with a continual eye on building brands that resonate with customers and consumers.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional project teams with internal and external key stakeholders, for the delivery of our objectives.
  • Manage daily portfolio activities for US and Canadian branded and private label portfolio.


Drive Consumer Focus / Customer Excellence

  • Capture key consumer, customer, industry, market, competition, and restaurant insights and translate these into commercial opportunities to enhance our brand portfolio.
  • Act as a key leader on the Brand Marketing team and partner with Integrated Marketing, Customer Marketing, and external agencies to align our media/communications and promotions in support of the brand strategy.
  • Initiate and/or approve packaging (graphics, materials, size, etc.).
  • Work closely with customer service to assist with the investigation of complaints in respect to quality, delivery, or service.


Achieve Business Excellence & Financial Health

  • Perform ongoing business analysis and reporting (sales, profits, competitive activity, promotional results, etc.), utilizing internal and external data (e.g. Circana CREST & SupplyTrack, Datassentials, Technomic, etc.) to identify and address key issues and opportunities.
  • Ensure a robust understanding of the key drivers for the brand / channel through financial knowledge of the SKUs under the portfolio and their contribution to the business.
  • Work with Financial Planning to regularly review SKU margins/costs against agreed key performance indicators.
  • Assist in the demand planning process prepare monthly SKU forecasts and participate in consensus activities.
  • Issue and reconcile purchase orders and invoices for A&P expenditure, managing the budget to agreed spend.


People & Culture

  • Actively participate in cross functional teams to ensure all team members feel part of delivering on the plans.
  • Create inclusive and collaborative relationships with key external suppliers, specifically Media, Creative & Packaging agencies.
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities by contributing to coaching and development of the team members.


What will make you successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (MBA strongly preferred)
  • Intrinsically motivated and curious. A self-starter that can find a business opportunity, create a compelling business strategy, and explore it entrepreneurially
  • Understanding of key business fundamentals and P&L management
  • Ability to influence the organization with fact-based evidence and salesmanship
  • Strong financial and strategic acumen, analytical abilities, communication skills, and decisiveness
  • Project management skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask against several complex projects at a time
  • Strong understanding of insights and the ability to partner consumer/customer research with industry trends to generate business insights
  • Has the courage to step up and address difficult issues directly
  • Ability to be resilient in the face of adversity
  • Strong computer proficiency in Excel (e.g. pivot tables), PowerPoint (e.g. storytelling skills) and Word


Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of Marketing, Brand or Category Management experience, preferably experience either with a leading Consumer Packaged Food company or in a B2B industry
  • Food experience required with minimum 2-3 years Foodservice Marketing experience
