If that's the case — or if you're just scouting potential career options three years down the line — here are five job openings we've tailored just for you. 

General Manager at Via

Why it’s cool: Via is HQ’d in New York, and Chicago is the first city they’ve expanded to. So working with Via means setting the precedent for how the company finds success in subsequent markets it launches. But their job description puts it best: “you won’t be working from an expansion playbook – you’ll be writing it.”

What you’d do: You’ll be the face of Via Chicago, overseeing all aspects of the launch and managing the founding team in the Second City. At your core, you’ll be the catalyst for customer happiness, smooth operations, and exceptional product.

Who they’re looking for: Because you’ll be growing Via from the ground up, you’ll need to be an entrepreneur through and through. You’re a great bet if you describe yourself as a data-driven self starter with intuitive communicative skills and previous operations experience, preferably at a startup.

VP of Product Management at Narrative Science

Why it’s cool: Narrative Science is a true a leader in its industry. Its artificial intelligence platform, Quill, analyzes mounds of data to produce personalized and digestible assessments of what that data actually means and why it’s important. Working as VP of Product Management truly means working on the tech of the future.

What you’d do: You’d be at the helm of all things product. That means keeping your finger on the market's pulse while managing scalability and commercial opportunity as you work to develop new products and features. You would also work alongside Narrative Science’s executive team to home in on and realize the company’s product vision.

Who they’re looking for: Narrative Science runs an advanced technological ship, so prior experience with complex, enterprise class software platforms is required. You’ll also need to have a demonstrated track record of successful product launches and a mastery of analytics and business intelligence.

Marketing Director at Thing5

Why it’s cool: Thing5’s comprehensive suite of cloud-based telephony solutions has established the company as a major player in the hospitality sector. They’ve already serviced more than 4,000 properties, including some of the nation’s most popular hotels, and working with them means joining a fast-growing company on the verge of major success.

What you’d do: The marketing director at Thing5 will plan and execute multiple marketing campaigns and write data-backed assessments to measure campaign success, all in the name of increasing brand awareness and driving opportunities for new customers.

Who they’re looking for: Applicants should have five to 10 years of similar marketing, communication or PR experience under their belt. Serious candidates will need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while showcasing cross-departmental collaboration, stellar communication skills, and effective marketing strategy.

Global Digital Media Director at McDonald's Corporation

Why it’s cool: McDonald’s is making strides to revolutionize their customer experience for the digital age. Joining their team means joining a cast of digital professionals who are ushering the world into the dining experience of tomorrow.

What you’d do: Key responsibilities include ensuring system-wide digital media strategies are using paid media channels effectively and work in tandem with a multi-channel communications strategy. You’ll also own benchmarking and KPIs for all markets and identify and socialize digital media principles, in addition to other responsibilities.

Who they’re looking for: At minimum, potential applicants need a bachelor’s degree and seven years of experience in a media-centric positions. The prime candidates will know how to complement long-term vision with short-term responsibilities and will have direct agency management experience, among a checklist of other attributes.

VP of Engineering at Persio

Why it’s cool: Persio is a multi-channel platform for retail marketers that’s empowering marketers to create more successful content. Their suite of tools help craft more personalized web, email, SMS and app campaigns and works with current channels and data sources. And they’re on the rise: they just secured a $2.5 million round of funding earlier this year.

What you’d do: Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll lead a team of some of the finest engineers around, helping to grow and nurture the Persio team into a tech-savvy force to be reckoned with, in addition to overall monitoring and improving end-to-end development.

Who they’re looking for: They want applicants whose career track has given them exposure to all layers of development, including database, server-side, and front-end. It’s also best if you’ve already got at least four years of experience under your belt managing a team of 10 to 40.
