As a Business Analyst at One North, you will be integral in gathering, documenting and ensuring the accurate creation and maintenance of functional requirements in a wide variety of digital products. The immediate need for this contract position is to operationalize and refine a set of existing and to-be-determined baseline components from both a functional and specification documentation perspective. This work stream will increase efficiencies and quality in the current functional specification and development process via the creation of a best-in-class specification approach with the desired output of a scalable detailed component library.

This position involves close interaction with all facets of our business including our Experience Design, Technology, Digital Strategy, Quality Assurance and Account Teams. You will report to and be directly supported by the Manager, UX Strategy and will interact most frequently with UX Strategists, Developers, Architects and Quality Assurance team members. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gather functional requirements from multiple sources and critically evaluate, refine and document information

• Plan and scope the unique functional specification approach for assigned digital products or components

• Collaborate with the Experience Design team by translating and documenting UX and design requirements into functional requirements from which developers will build

• Collaborate with the Technology team by communicating, both in easy to use documentation and via in-person collaboration, intended functionality, workflow considerations and client constraints

• Set the baseline for how specifications should be written at One North

• Identify opportunities and seek to improve the quality and efficiency in the current functional specification process

• Collaborate with Experience Design and Technology teams to roll out proposed process changes across impacted teams

• Work in concert with architects and tech leads to define solutions that will solve the client’s needs with consideration to componentization, performance and future solution maintainability

• Work to define complex digital marketing data integration solutions while balancing the goals and communication needs of clients, architects and UX Strategists

• Train and coach others responsible for the creation of specs in established best practices

• Communicate findings and recommendations to both internal and external audiences

• Identify inefficiencies in client’s existing systems and business processes

• Collaborate with the Account Management Team by providing continued guidance on business analysis facets to ensure successful engagement

• Conduct continued requirements tracking, prioritization, maintenance and ongoing assessment

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• 5+ years of demonstrated excellence in business analysis or functional specification disciplines

• Excellent technical writing capabilities with an acute attention to detail

• A comprehensive understanding of typical digital project processes and deliverables specifically around functional specification and test case creation

• Experience previously implementing, or helping formulate, a best-in-class documentation strategy

• Familiarity with (or demonstrated ability to quickly learn) the functionality, benefits and restrictions of Sitecore and Keystone web platforms

• The ideal candidate will be confident, professional and excited to not only create specification work, but coach others into excellence in documentation as well

• Familiarity with and passion for great UX is an asset in this role

• Experience working collaboratively with internal team members and with clients

• Ability to tailor communications to fit the audience and situation and ensure that the correct understanding is conveyed

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, or equivalent work experience

• Postgraduate education and/or additional professional certifications a plus

Our office is located downtown Chicago at the corner of Franklin & Monroe streets. However, we're currently working together remotely.
