What You Do:


As a Business Development Manager, you will serve as an ambassador for Uptake, working on the front lines to structure strategic partnerships and ventures. You will be responsible for driving new revenue, structuring new business models, and owning partner relationships. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for overall partnership management, developing market entry plans, and executing on company sales objectives and strategies.


 


Responsibilities:



  • Business Development:

    • Develop go-to-market strategies and product commercialization plans throughout the lifecycle of a partner relationship

    • Develop business cases to quantify the value of IoT/analytics throughout a specific industry

    • Perform research and identify market pain points across a specific industry value chain

    • Potential to assist M&A teams in performing diligence for strategic alliances and acquisitions

    • Identify and nurture new business opportunities within current client portfolio





  • Partnership Management

    • Assess inbound partnership inquiries

    • Develop strategic and tactical account/partnership plans

    • Manage partner expectations throughout the lifecycle of a deal

    • Develop hypotheses with subject matter experts on the proper solution for individual partners

    • Develop partnership agreements with defined scope, budget, and timing estimates

    • Manage partner proposals from start to finish, ensuring successful project completion against deadlines

    • Act as liaison between clients and internal SME’s and technical teams

    • Drive cross-functional initiatives across a number of groups, including (but not limited to): Engineering, Corporate Development, Product, UX, Operations

    • Manage a pipeline of partner pursuits through Salesforce




Qualifications:


The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in Business Development, Strategic Partnerships/Alliances, and/or Account/Partnership Management, and be equipped with a sound knowledge of technology. The successful applicant must be comfortable in a dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.



  • BS/MS from a top university and 5+ years relevant work experience in management consulting, venture capital, technology-focused corporate development/strategy, enterprise alliances, or technology focused business development

  • Experience in analytics, PaaS/SaaS software, and Big Data fields preferred

  • Knowledge of and a demonstrated track record developing successful pipeline and channels for SaaS software solutions and applications

  • Ability to manage others and build relationships and networks internally and externally

  • Problem solver with a strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability, along with excellent business judgment

  • Able to work under minimal or no supervision

  • Entrepreneurial spirit who hustles to get the job done

  • Organized, highly motivated individual with excellent project management and presentation skills

  • Creative, adaptive thinker; must posses unique balance of ‘big thinker’ vs. ‘deep thinker’

  • Ability to learn new industries rather quickly

  • Effective communicator of complex concepts

  • Excellent analytic and negotiation skills

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
