MAIN COURSE (Job Responsibilities):

We are looking for an enthusiastic public relations or communications major, graduates preferred, who is looking for a dynamic opportunity to jump in and help us build buzz for the Pampered Chef brand in social media, traditional media and with online influencers.

 

This is a hands-on role that requires exceptional communications, writing and project management skills. The perfect intern candidate will have an unquenchable appetite for learning new things, superior skill for organizing information and managing multiple tasks, a passion for communications and a desire to get better everyday.

 

You will help monitor all mentions of the brand across social and traditional media, launch new products, develop creative pitch and post angles to elevate the Pampered Chef brand, and assist in providing media training to consultants.

 

This position reports to the Director of Corporate Communications who is responsible for all communications initiatives and staff, including executive communications, coworker communications, media relations, influencer program, and charitable giving to ensure appropriate and cohesive messaging across all key audiences.

  • Amplify Pampered Chef brand narrative to generate awareness and position Pampered Chef strongly with media, influencers, social followings, consultants, customers, employees and the community;
  • Collaborate with director on a wide range of buzz-building social and media programs
  • Nurture proactive media and influencer relationships
  • Develop talking points for brand spokespeople
  • Contribute to our growing social media following by monitoring, managing and developing content across channels
  • Monitor industry trends and consumer habits, staying ahead of the curve to inform communications strategies and tactics;
  • Measure brand awareness, positioning and communications effectiveness
  • Learn the ins and outs of a fast-paced, cross-functional corporate communications department
KEY INGREDIENTS (Position Requirements):
  • College course work in pursuit of a Public Relations or Communications degree
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • An interest and comfort level with multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest
  • Strategic, creative thinker
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Detail-oriented, reliable team player
  • Motivated, high-performing personality with a passion for taking on new challenges and a drive to succeed
  • An able multi-tasker with experience juggling deadlines and producing high-quality work
  • Ability to be flexible and open to changing priorities and challenges
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PowerPoint, Word and Excel a must
  • Preference will be given to candidates with:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, English or related communications discipline
    • Prior relevant internship experience
    • List building prowess, media measurement tracking know-how and/or basic knowledge of the editorial pitch process
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Cision or Meltwater list building and media tracking software

Addison in a village located in the Chicago Metropolitan Area in DuPage County. Pampered Chef is Addison's largest private employer and has had a great relationship with the Village for decades!
