Database Administrator

Reports to the Sr. IT Manager

 

Our Database Administration team:

The Database Administration team is accountable and responsible for:

  • Keeping the database systems current, optimized, and functional
  • Making sure Enova data is protected and backed-up
  • Building new databases
  • Maintaining existing databases
  • Database troubleshooting
  • Ensuring data is available, reliable, and secure
  • Database capacity management

 

Our team and the databases we manage support the efforts of our business and technical partners such as Advanced Analytics, Marketing, Accounting, Software Engineering, Business Intelligence, Call Center Operations, and Data warehouse.

 

Our goal is to achieve 100% business user satisfaction and maintain 99.999% uptime availability of our databases.

 

We speak this language:

Our primary applications make heavy use of Microsoft SQL Server and Postgres.  Our DBMS sit upon Debian Linux (PG) and Microsoft Windows Server. We use programing and scripting languages such as Python and Bash as a way to automate manual processes while utilizing repositories such as GitHub to maintain our code.

 

This is where YOU come in:

As a Database Administrator you’ll be responsible for executing routine maintenance task to ensure Database availability for the applications. You will be expected to continuously provide ideas on how we can improve efficiency and performance of our database environment. Using a combination of your DBA experience and scripting expertise you’ll refactor old scripts and create new ones to improve the efficiency of the DBA team. You will participate in an on-call rotation for after hours support, and provide technical leadership during problem determination. As a database administrator you will be expected to participate in or lead projects such as DBMS upgrades, DR test, Standardization, R&D, and Product Development.

  • are experienced with supporting and deploying Microsoft SQL Server and/or Postgres environments.
  • have strong communication and written skills
  • have strong python and/or bash scripting skill set
  • are detailed oriented when developing technical solutions
  • have the ability to configure, implement, and supports high availability strategies with database systems
  • have implemented database security safeguards and audit them on an ongoing basis
  • enjoy solving complex problems with innovative database solutions
  • have excellent problem solving skills
  • enjoy mentoring and learning from others
  • have experience participating or leading complex database projects
  • efficiently execute DBA activities/task
  • enjoy sharing your technical improvement ideas/solutions

 

Kudos to you if you:

  • are a technical expert with Linux or specifically Debian operating system
  • have a strong understanding and experience using configuration management tools such as GIT
  • can perform capacity planning
