Responsibilities

The Desktop Engineer in this role will work within a dynamic End User Services team that is accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet End User computing requirements. The individual in this role will partner with key End User customers to create well-defined solutions that are aligned to the company’s IT strategy and leverage common solutions and services to meet key project goals.

 

The Desktop Engineer will provide excellent Level 3 End User support, including network, hardware/software services, problem documentation/resolution, and project management.  This role will act as the technical lead and will assist in strategic planning initiatives. Additional responsibilities:

 

  • Plan, design, document and implement end user computing platform, operating system, enterprise software, and peripheral upgrades to improve services provided to internal business clients and partners
  • Provide outstanding customer support, foster open dialogue, share diverse options and concerns through a trusting environment
  • Mentor technical support analysts through example and recommending solutions to critical/challenging issues, prioritizing issues, sharing experiences and guiding/counseling on issue resolution
  • Liaise with global extended team by assisting in directing work efforts
  • Execute complex tasks such as global implementations and solution integrations, requiring the application of advanced IT infrastructure knowledge, skills, practices, and procedures, along with creative insights to complete assignments successfully
  • Work with peer teams and other departments to ensure currency of the desktop applications and environments that support End User Computing
  • Assist global HAVI staff in resolving issues that have been escalated to the technical support team
  • Successfully work with the peer architecture and infrastructure teams to engineer solutions that meet the HAVI strategic vision while driving innovative improvements
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years' operational engineering experience providing solutions and support in an integrated Windows, web, and mobile environment
  • 3+ years' demonstrated skills in incident and problem management related to End User technology
  • Experience providing virtualization or other solutions for remote users and branch offices using VMware or Hyper-V VDI
  • Experience driving End User education and adoption for new technologies utilizing organizational change management
  • Experience using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for deploying and maintaining a geographically distributed workstation environment
  • Telecom and tele/video conferencing experience
  • Experience utilizing scripting technologies (PowerShell)
  • Experience designing solutions for and supporting Apple OSX products
  • Mobile management and BYOD experience a plus
  • Experience managing a Mac environment a plus
  • Deliver personal, customer focused, and professional service
  • Prioritize workload and set proper level of urgency to tasks
  • Provide status and issue updates to management and peers as required
  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Familiar with and demonstrated skills utilizing project management fundamentals
  • Technical certifications (ITIL) are a plus
