Director of Cloud Engineering at Morningstar
 The Team: Fueling the technologies that drive our products and support our company`s infrastructure, the Cloud Engineering team enables public cloud at scale for our application teams to deploy applications securely, reliably, and in a compliant state.  Though our technologists represent a range of skills and knowledge bases, they all view technology as a craft and care deeply about creating positive user experiences. From Agile methodologies to mobile applications to software as a service (SaaS), we push technology`s boundaries to build scalable, elegant solutions that help investors reach their financial goals.

The Role: We are seeking a Director of Cloud Engineering to lead and oversea our cloud strategy and migration.   The role will lead a set of cloud enablement teams in the areas of operations, infrastructure, and security.  

Responsibilities:

  • Set and drive short and long-term cloud strategy
  • Facilitate mature cloud adoption by evolving the platform supporting operations, infrastructure, and security
  • Lead large scale public cloud migration efforts
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project/product management, and third parties to facilitate cloud migration strategy
  • Ensure appropriate cost methodologies are created and tracked against

 Requirements:

  • 10 years’ experience in technical, infrastructure, architecture, and/or development team leadership in a diverse environment
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related fields is required; a master's degree is preferred
  • Understanding of cloud and proven experience leading teams that deliver cloud enablement solutions in a hybrid environment
  • Experience driving large-scale data center migrations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and transform teams to adopt methodologies consistent with pubic cloud
  • Experience managing vendors and third parties
  • Ability to manage and influence organizations of both technical and nontechnical specialists.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, manage competing agendas and priorities, and translate complex information across internal and external audiences.
