Sprout Social is looking for a Director of Quality Assurance who can help bring to life our vision of quality as a key pillar in our Engineering organization. As the shepherd of our QA team, you’ll have the privilege of coaching, mentoring, and hiring some of the brightest minds in the field. Companies like Dropbox, Zendesk, Fender, Zipcar and Evernote rely on Sprout to create stronger relationships with their customers through social media. Your passion for quality will have a major impact on how we develop software and directly influence the product that more than 19,000 customers know and love.

From your years of experience, you’ll be developing and executing a holistic testing strategy, raising the bar for not only QA, but all engineering roles. As part of a cutting-edge technical organization, you’ll be instrumental in establishing best practices and key performance metrics to help drive Sprout even further.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside a team of talented engineers, standing out as an advocate for QA and effectively communicating your strategy to key stakeholders.
  • Work alongside Engineering Leadership to grow Sprout Engineering into a world-class software organization.
  • Develop and communicate a long-term vision of QA, one that sees quality assurance as an integral part of how we build.
  • Develop and implement best practices in repeatable test methodologies, including automated testing systems for software.
  • Cultivate a team environment centered around mentorship, coaching, and career progression. Help guide the next generation of thought pioneers and strong individual contributors.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of testing experience with at least 3 years in a management position, preferably in a SaaS environment.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience managing both individual contributors and managers.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing QA KPI metrics and the ability to use data to make meaningful impact.
  • Previous hands-on experience with automation tools (Selenium, Appium, etc.) as well as CI tools (Jenkins, Travis CI, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Java, C/C++, Python, Ruby, PHP or JavaScript (more than one language is a plus)
  • Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top-tier talent in building a QA organization.
  • Strong technical testing skills, both functional and nonfunctional, manual and automation, ideally in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey strategy and vision to senior leadership, your own team, and all of engineering.
