Event Coordinator- Event Planning, Marketing, Sales 

 

We are seeking an experienced event coordinator to lead our events first in Chicago and then nationally. This event coordinator, who will be based in Chicago, will help lead the best tech events locally and nationally. We host events for tech startups and fast growing companies in cities across the country. 

The event coordinator will report directly to the CEO as well as work closely with our business development and content teams.

Our company is the #1 LOCAL online hub for tech startups and high growth companies.  We are rapidly growing and need a dynamic event coordinator to keep up with us. Your role will have significant growth potential.

Purpose Of Position
The main focus of this position is to develop, sell and execute our events. You will work closely with both large and small, local and national corporate partners and utilize your expertise to help develop and execute high quality, unique events that will increase brand engagement, demand for events and overall event revenue.

Responsibilities

 

Event planning and execution

  • Develop and execute events from budget and timeline preparation to day-of execution;
  • Negotiate venue and vendor agreements; and
  • Coordinate day-of execution including staff, volunteers and vendors.

 

Marketing

  • Publicizes events and raise awareness to drive high levels of attendance and participation for events; and
  • Responsible for promoting all events via online and social media channels.

 

Sales

  • Identify, speak to and sell new sponsors on existing opportunities;
  • Work with existing sponsors to ensure they are receiving the maximum ROI;
  • Advise on new ideas to generate additional revenue for various events;
  • Make hundreds of judgment-based calls on a daily basis with regard to sponsorships (including who to target, what to sell them so they derive the highest ROI, where to promote them, etc).

 

What type of folks are you looking for? We want people with:

 

Communication skills

  • Must be a clear and confident communicator;
  • Must be comfortable disagreeing and being able to support your position with data; and
  • Comfortable making recommendations based on qualitative and quantitative findings; and

 

Sales Experience

  • 1-2 years previous experience creating sponsorship packages and selling them is preferred.

 

Event Experience

  • 2-3 years previous experience creating high-quality, unique events from start to finish.

 

Flexibility

  • The event coordinator might need to work some evenings or weekends  (responding to emails or attending/hosting after work events).

 

Ability to fit into our team

  • Entrepreneurial and self-driven;
  • The event coordinator will need to get along with our team;
  • Must be intrigued and invigorated by working in a fast-paced, startup environment; and
  • We also really appreciate when team members have great time management skills, the ability to multi-task, an uncompromising ethical code and the ability to stay composed under stress. Humility, selflessness, collaboration, honesty and strong work ethic are also really important to us.

 

Education

  • Strong academic credentials preferred, but we value intelligence, personality, experience and overall fit over a degree.
