The Job
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and detailed focused person who has experience with corporate event planning, marketing, and day-to-day event management in the Chicago tech scene. This temporary role is in our downtown Chicago office. The role will run until mid-June.
While there is no such thing a typical day, you can expect to help us in the coordination of Built In sponsored events. Examples of things you might do include:
Working with vendor contacts and events hosts
Working with our Content team to promote events on Built In’s social media accounts
Planning and executing The Moxie Awards, our annual recognition of amazing tech companies in Chicago
Handling some administrative duties.
We also expect you to attend and assist at all Built In sponsored events and meetings that take place during your assignment.
Your Background
You should have a minimum of 1 year of event planning experience
You should have experience working with event management software such as Eventbrite, MeetUp pages, etc.
Building and maintaining relationships with our vendors and customers should come second nature to you.
We love Google Docs, so should you.
What We Value
Flexible personality –You should thrive on change while remaining organized, optimistic, and coachable. High energy and contagious enthusiasm help too. You also know when to roll-up your sleeves and when to leverage help from others.
Communication- You should have the ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and compellingly. Honesty, transparency, and thoughtfulness are a must. A bias towards action, seeking constructive feedback from customers, peers, and your team, and measurement and iteration are part of your natural process.
Interest in the tech industry – You must be passionate about three things: (1) Startups (2) Building innovative tech products and services; and (3) Helping others. This is what we do. This is non-negotiable.
Culture fit – You will need to get along with our team (which isn’t too hard, we think!) as well as all the members vital to the community in which you are building. Humility, selflessness and strong work ethic are requirements.
Education - We value intelligence, personality and overall fit over a degree.
