MAIN COURSE (Job Responsibilities)

We’re numbers people! We collect, process, analyze, and distribute financial information, keeping everything accurate and timely. We also safeguard company assets and provide insights into the business across other departments.

We are looking for a savvy, energetic accountant who is ready for his or her next big challenge.  As a member of the Pampered Chef accounting team, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end.  You'll perform accounting and analytical functions to generate timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reports used to make business decisions, and you'll review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports -- and all this sounds like fun to you. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and roll up your sleeves to pitch in when it's all hands on deck. • Perform month end accounting including journal entry preparation and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of the month end financial statement analysis issued to the Controller and CFO.
• Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statement and footnotes submitted to Berkshire Hathaway, Inc.
• Financial liaison for a non-finance team within Pampered Chef providing analytical review of monthly expenses and providing recommendations for savings opportunities.
• Assist auditors by preparing schedules, explaining supporting material and procedures and any other data as needed.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned, e.g. stays abreast of current trends and practices in accounting and finance. Recommends, designs and implements necessary department controls and procedures.

KEY INGREDIENTS (Position Requirements)

• BS / BA in accounting or finance plus general accounting experience; MBA/MSA a plus; CPA a plus, public accounting experience desired
• Solid understanding of accounting processes and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Working knowledge of PC based accounting programs required (Oracle preferred), and strong knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications required (MS Office preferred)
• Detailed oriented individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to achieve objectives and timelines; Strong analytical and reasoning skills
• Excellent verbal and written (analytical narratives explaining expense statements, business memos) communication skills
• Ability to work in a deadline oriented environment with a strong attention to detail
