Linux Administrator
The Linux Administrator will work with an awesome Infrastructure Team that deploys and manages a diverse infrastructure environment with a focus on high-performance, low-latency trading systems. The Linux Administrator is an expert with Linux administration and must maintain a strong understanding of networking fundamentals as well as project management.
What our Linux Administrator will do:
· Research and design superior system configurations that produce the best possible performance from installed hardware
· Leverage scripting languages to automate common tasks
· Research and evaluate new and innovative technologies
· Ensure trading system stability and uptime by working around trading hours as needed
· Competency around Linux Kernel and performance tuning
· Independently deliver high-performance results for complex technical projects
Whom we are looking for:
· A candidate with a proven track record of implementation and administration of Linux
· 3-5 years in a Linux role focusing on performance tuning, scalability, and stability
· Strong understanding of the Red Hat family of the GNU/Linux operating systems
· Experience with open source monitoring tools
· Configuration management experience (via tools, Salt/Puppet/Ansible/CFEngine, etc.)
· Fluent in a variety of scripting languages
· Deep understanding of latency and tuning impacts
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to quickly identify and resolve complex technical issues
Bonus Points if you:
· Have experience working with proprietary hardware
· Display a high-level knowledge of Networking at a Network Administrator level
· Are a self-starter who constantly researches and learns new technologies
· Experience with the Unix ecosystem, both between different flavors of Unix and the proper relations of roles of the components of a given Unix system
· Are a problem solver of "Systems Engineering"
· Experience optimizing systems for latency minimization
· Expert level knowledge of the Linux Kernel
· Skilled in the art of debugging modern GNU/Linux systems (gdb, strace, systemtap, etc.)
