Manager of Learning, Software Engineering
This position is for you if you find yourself asking how we should ...
- Effectively grow teams and onboard new members
- Embed learning and growth into our processes
- Document and communicate leading practices to new team members
- Foster a passion for learning about our technology platforms
- Engage with outside organizations to further their mission and our ability to reach talent
This is where YOU come in:
Internally, we call this person “CODE” (Coordinator for Outreach, Development and Education). You will report to a Sr. Manager of Software Engineering. What do we mean when we say CODE?
Outreach:
You’ll collaborate with technology leadership, engineers, product owners, analysts, and others to define the vision and strategies that will push our teams to grow professionally while remaining committed to shared goals and quality deliverables. Your core responsibility will be to implement this vision with the assistance of leaders in the department. To do this effectively you will need to build partnerships with both internal and external organizations to help increase Enova’s already vibrant engagement with the technology community in breadth, depth, diversity and inclusivity. Through these partnerships you will have the opportunity to help organize events, identify speaking opportunities and speakers, contribute to open source projects whenever possible, and ultimately help us to identify and attract top talent while giving back to the community.
Development:
You will also be responsible for fostering a culture of learning in the department. This will require you to organize and facilitate a varied set of professional learning opportunities including hosting internal tech talks, organizing meetups, coordinating conference attendance, and liaising with our corporate training department to encourage participation in workshops and other development opportunities.
Education:
Finally, you will be responsible for the measuring and ensuring the success of the resources you create and organize. You will be developing and maintaining curriculum for our onboarding program, as well as overseeing its execution for newly hired engineers, interns and apprentices as well as team members from IT, Product Management and TechOps looking to learn something new about the technology platform in use at Enova. You will also be in a position to drive improvements in the tools we use to support learning internally, including developing targeted content for specialized roles with topics such as testing, DevOps, infrastructure, data science, user interface design and user experience.
You’re a fit for this job if you ...
- Have developed curriculum or acted as an instructor
- Have experience with diversity initiatives, outreach and recruiting efforts
- Are able to travel domestically or internationally for conferences or other engagements
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Are able to jump in and handle new tasks as assigned
Additional kudos if you ...
- Have experience with our stack (AWS, Ember, Go, PostgreSQL, Ruby, Rails, Swift)
- Have experience delivering enterprise web applications, from db to js
- Have made impactful contributions to open source (send us GitHub links!)
- Have given technical talks at conferences or meetups
- Have worked with prominent organizations in the broader technology community
What will you get out of this?
- Ability to have a positive impact on every new hire in Software Engineering
- Membership in a wonderfully unique and smart group of humans who have each other’s back.
- Opportunity to learn, teach and be involved with the open source community.
- PERKS! Massages, haircuts, tuition reimbursement, manicures, wellness programs, corporate and team outings, charitable match, commuter benefits, flexible hours, yoga, dry cleaning, 401K matching, sabbatical program, and summer hours.
