About DevMynd

DevMynd is a software design and development firm in Chicago and San Francisco.  We build rich web applications in Ruby and JavaScript, mobile apps in iOS, help teams recover failing software initiatives, and deliver training and mentorship to junior teams.  We work with large clients like Madison Square Garden, The University of Chicago, AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, Groupon, etc. - we also work with a number of exciting local startups like TrunkClub, 640Labs, and GiveForward.  Today our team of designers and developers is 18 strong and we are looking towards significant growth in 2015.

What We Need

As a young and growing services firm, we are looking for a smart, optimistic, and organized individual to help us with “top of funnel” sales activities such as:
  • Identifying prospect companies within our target market
  • Pinpointing needs and opportunities
  • Working through pre-qualifying steps for leads
  • Developing initial relationships
  • Handing off warm leads to account executives
  • Attending networking events and conference

Qualifications

In general, we’re looking for someone with the following qualifications:
  • College degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-2 years of experience in a sales or administrative capacity (prior sales experience not absolutely required)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to follow a defined process but also help optimize for effectiveness
  • Highly collaborative, communicative, and professional personality
  • Some knowledge of the software development industry is preferable
  • Willingness to stretch and grow new areas of knowledge
The stand-out individual will NOT be identifiable as a “sales person”, we don’t want any used car feeling here ;)  The ideal candidate will be someone who likes to network and connect people, and is genuinely interested in helping others with their challenges regardless of closing a sale.

What We Offer

DevMynd has a great culture and work environment.  We offer a great benefits package including health care, retirement plans, profit sharing, generous paid-time-off, and much more.  Compensation for this sales position may also include some amount of commission as well as a base salary.

An Insider's view of Made in Tandem

What’s the vibe like in the office?

What makes the culture at Tandem unique is just how diverse and creative everyone's backgrounds are. There are so many varied hobbies and former careers that make people incredibly well-rounded. That makes the environment fun, and it makes every conversation interesting.

Ronda

Client Engagement

What are some things you learned at the company?

I have more patience with myself and more kindness toward myself when debugging code and figuring out different ways to implement the tasks I am handed. Also, when I started at Tandem I didn't know a single thing about Ruby or Ruby on Rails, and I now can read and write both pretty well.

Caleb

Engineering

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

As a designer, I've learned how to work with and collaborate with developers when building a product. I've learned a ton about how web applications are built, how to design for code, and -- in particular as we go through our process of research, design and development -- how to collaborate with the whole team.

We're a different kind of consultancy because of our people. Our vision is to create a supportive, collaborative environment and empower people to do the best work of their lives. Everyone says that, though, right? The difference between Tandem and a typical tech company is that instead of bringing in snacks and a ping pong table and calling that "culture," we do the behind-the-scenes work to foster an environment where everyone teaches and everyone learns. Egos are low, and we're all genuinely interested in seeing everyone else succeed.
