What You'll Do:

The Nutrition Specialist supports all aspects of health and well-being at Uptake. You will be responsible for collaborating with different functions in the organization to provide distinctive service for employees to meet improve personal health and wellness. This includes, but is not limited to: diet, exercise, mindfulness, and health screenings. You will conduct classes and one-on-one consultations. During one-on-one meetings you will establish a plan to help individuals meet their goals and keep their commitments. Being accessible and open to all employees is critical to fully functioning in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Hold office hours for one-on-one health consultation
  • Establish plans with employees and deploy strategies aimed at helping them to keep their commitments and meet their personal wellness goals
  • Influence Uptake food/snack options with nutrition in mind
  • Create and manage company-wide competitions to inspire healthy lifestyles
  • Partner with the People team in driving employee participation in Uptake-sponsored sports teams/leagues
  • Partner with People Specialist and Office of CEO to organize Uptake’s involvement in corporate sponsored community events (e.g. Chase Corporate Challenge)
  • Together with People Specialist, work to develop, plan, and execute active company outings on a quarterly basis
  • Stay abreast of health-related opportunities in the community and work with internal communications to publicize
  • Arrange for external experts to do demonstrations and/or provide health related services—yoga, cooking, massage, etc.
  • Coordinate screenings for such things as blood pressure, body fat analysis, BMI, bone density, feet screening, glucose testing, hearing, lung capacity, skin cancer, vision, cholesterol
  • Classes on topics such as back care, dental health, first aid, nutrition, stress management, work-life balance
  • Create a regular company newsletter with tips and awareness

Qualifications:

  • Business-minded Nutritionist with several years of providing effective consultancy in the areas of diet, exercise, and overall personal wellness
  • Able to take a pragmatic approach to business partnership and operations.
  • Collaborative and action-oriented, with ability to influence outcomes and lead change.
  • Strong personal initiative; able to build a program from scratch and influence key people in the organization to create a culture where health and wellness is a valued priority.
  • Operationally focused with ability to think strategically and deliver tactically.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience managing large volumes of immigration caseloads
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to use sound judgment to drive complex issues to resolution
  • Demonstrated flexibility working in a dynamic and rapidly changing organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to empathize with employees
  • A reputation for discretion, integrity, judgment, responsiveness, and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated passion for delivering a great customer experience
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to country norms, global cultures and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently with emphasis on attention to detail
  • An approachable coach and mentor to staff and peers
  • Solid PC skills
  • Preference given to those certified as Registered Dietician Nutritionists (RDN). This includes:
    • Current Registered Dietitian Licensure from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations and credentials and registration from the commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
    • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university with coursework approved by ACEND of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
    • Completed an ACEND accredited supervised practice program

We are located in River North just right off the Chicago Brown Line stop. We also provide you with a free shuttle service to/from Ogilvie and Union.
