Department OverviewThe Program Management Office team is responsible for the delivery of our Critical Communications Networks programs.

Job Description

Leadership of a team of Program Managers providing a supportive team environment and supporting their personal and professional development. This includes being a role model and ambassador for the organization and driving an ethos of collaborative working. Ensure consistent application of working practices and standards, ensuring efficient, effective delivery of business value.

Work with the PMO Director to set strategic approaches and goals for the organization.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations: 

  • Train and mentor the team on relevant Program Management and Organizational topics in order to help them achieve project success and career advancement. Serve as organizational authority on project management practices.

  • Develop and attract a diverse array of talents

  • Build a culture of trust and collaboration. 

  • Share practices and processes and look for opportunities to commonize or gain efficiencies. Find appropriate balance of processes through tailoring where applicable.

  • Create a community to foster collaboration amongst Program Managers inside and outside the organization. Partner with other organization PMOs to establish best practices.

  • Support the overall management and successful delivery of business initiative(s) identified in the Program Portfolio

  • Serve as an escalation point for program managers regarding program/project management methodology and practices, issues and risks, agenda planning, business stakeholder. Ensure appropriate level of engagement for project stakeholders.

  • Communication follow-up for multi-stakeholder governance committees

  • Hold program review meetings on a regular basis to communicate project health and risks requiring escalation.

  • Performance and Rewards Management of the team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience including 3+ years of Program Management experience and ideally 2+ years of People Management experience.

  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and leading teams; delivering complex, intellectually demanding projects; and building strategic direction

  • Experience with launching end-to-end Software programs

  • Able to work on complex issues and develop resolutions where deep analytical skills and creativity is required

  • Experience in using both traditional Waterfall and Agile Project Management methodologies.

  • Proficient in Google Applications – Google sheets, Docs, Slides, and Drive etc. 

  • PMP certification, Certified SCRUM master and/or other project management certification is preferred

  • Proven competencies in using various Agile competencies in managing projects

  • Preferred Engineering background

  • Able to work with different levels from team members to Senior Leaders within the organization

  • Strong command of change management issues and methodologies

  • Hands-on, results-oriented and attention to detail

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.

  • Ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve conflicts, as well as more general management and team-player skills

  • Very strong team player. Should possess the ability to foster teamwork and a positive working environment to the project team in light of changes and challenges. Should have people skills to be able to work independently with different IT team members in different roles

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with excellent presentation skills and the ability to adapt to different audiences

  • Excellent listening skills with a strong ability to build cross-functional relationships
