Resource Manager
The Resource Manager is a key component to our consulting services team. This challenging position draws heavily upon strong interpersonal skills, data management capabilities, and a “track and attack” approach to ensuring that projects are appropriately staffed, on schedule and on budget.
Specific components of the position include working with the Resource Allocation Team (or "Casting Team" as we call it) to make strategic staffing recommendations and decisions, staff projects, update and manage work plans, manage client contracts and billing, facilitate project closure including project reviews, offer insight into capability gaps/hiring and training needs.
You will be involved with Management/Delivery, Practice Development, and Team Development.
Responsibilities
- Existing Client Project Delivery
- Track resource profitability
- Project Reviews with Internal Team Members
- Meet with project teams after go-live to discuss successes and challenges of the project
- Gather feedback on potential improvements we can implement for future projects
- Resource Management
- Master planning of the Casting Team
- Keep resource forecast updated weekly
- Manage resource utilization across projects
- Resolve resource allocation conflicts
- Review actual hours billed vs. forecasted hours on a weekly basis
- Update backlog and report to Management
- Look for opportunities to increase utilization – partner projects, fast track projects
- Skill management
- Maintain skill database
- Offer insight into capability gaps/hiring and training needs
- Work collaboratively with the VP of Professional Services, project managers and HR Manager to identify training and recruiting deficits/needs
- Participate in performance reviews/performance management
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of prior work experience; at least one year in Consulting, Resource Management or Project Management roles and experience working in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Familiarity with consulting, planning, and scheduling of consulting resources.
- Client Development and Delivery: Prior experience in business strategy and development, consulting sales, client service, client development process, service delivery processes, market and service offering development, and proven successful execution against strategic business plans.
- Leadership: Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills and prior demonstrated ability to aide in the growth of a dynamic and quality-driven team. Strong understanding of how to lead and execute in a professional services model.
- Miscellaneous: Ability to build trusting relationships at all levels and think creatively and strategically to come up with optimal staffing solutions. Ability to manipulate excel spreadsheets and manage work streams in an online project management tool. Excellent attention to detail and quantitative skills to help oversee budget management.
- Education: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree required.
