Senior Product Manager
The Group: The Products group is the home of manufacturing and innovation at Morningstar. The individuals in this group transform our high-quality data, independent research, and technological expertise into well-designed products that delight our clients. The group’s product management, product development, and service teams collaborate with our Client Solutions group to help provide clients with relevant products and bundled solutions.
The Role: Morningstar is looking for a Senior Product Manager to manage our Morningstar Advisor Workstation Product globally (primarily the US, Canada and India). The role will be part of the Advisor Software team. The Advisor Software team is responsible for developing and delivering a range of configured advisor solutions to the global Wealth Management market.
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for partnering with Strategy, Sales, Service and Marketing to determine evolving market needs and business opportunities. The Senior Product Manager leads launching the Cloud product to market for new and existing clients, establishing revenue and product adoption KPIs, and tracks towards the established goals. This role reports to the Header of Advisor Software, and is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, prioritizes and owns the product strategy and roadmap for the Advisor Workstation product group.
- Lead the transition of the current Advisor Workstation product and it’s 120K+ users to the cloud.
- Leads a team of product managers responsible for market specific instances of Advisor Workstation.
- Acts as voice of the user within the development organization.
- Utilizes user research, product usage data, client services, sales and direct user interactions to identify unmet user needs and opportunities for improvement.
- Prioritize different customer and product needs within the context of an Agile software development framework.
- Use data for development and testing of hypotheses, managing with KPIs and measurements of product success (e.g. customer satisfaction, quality, time to market, etc.), and guiding next steps.
- Work with cross-functional leaders to determine technology, design, and project management resource requirements to execute product strategy and delivery on commitments.
- Represent Morningstar products at conferences, client meetings, user forums, etc.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, computer science or a related field is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
- A minimum of seven years of relevant and progressive experience in product management.
- Knowledge and experience with Agile development, and good technical acumen are plus.
- A knowledge of Morningstar products and the markets they serve is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and analytical skills.
