• Comfortable architecting transient, on-demand, cloud-based services (machines that turn on when needed, turn off when they aren’t).

• Knowledge of and experience architecting solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and coaching to developers and engineers at Food Genius.

• Capable of prototyping a data-focused project or pipeline and growing it to scale (taking a one proof-of-concept project, abstracting its concepts, and operationalizing it with dev team).

• Capable of understanding and communicating to developers of all levels, as well as business folks.

• Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards.

• Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development team.

• Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design.

• Interested in cutting-edge projects that include voice apps, machine learning, and eventually, AI applications...

• Significant experience in building applications that either process or analyze data - lots of data...

• Have experience working with or building distributed systems (many machines doing a small amount of work).

• Experience in some sort of scripting language, preferably Python.

• Experience in some sort of compiled language, whether it be Java, C++, or even Go (we use a lot of Go).

• Demonstrated experience in working with infrastructure-on-demand services like AWS’s EC2.

• Knowledgeable in large-scale data processing tools, examples: Hadoop, Spark...

• Knowledgeable of modern devops processes and workflows (Git, CI, CD, Docker, any provisioning tool, etc.).

• Capable and willing to get quality work done quickly

• Someone willing and capable of being a leader

• Demonstrable problem-solving skills

• Excited by difficult / borderline-impossible problems

• History of working on a variety of team sizes

• Creative, enthusiastic about technology, how it can be applied

• A foodie, enjoy talking about and eating food (who doesn’t?)
