We’re looking for an experienced Senior UX Designer to bring the passion, work ethic and expertise needed to lead new product development efforts at a fast-growing tech startup. You will work as a member of a highly motivated team responsible for managing the complete product lifecycle to ensure success in terms of both revenue and the timely release of new products and capabilities.

This is a full-time position that will involve gathering user stories, designing workflows, wire-framing and working directly with users, developers and testers. The Senior UX Designer will be become proficient in our growing suite of applications and have a clear understanding of the business processes driving the usage and interaction with the web-based applications.

You will report directly to the VP of Product Management and work closely with your counterparts and the Development team to ensure successful product delivery. You’ll also collaborate with extended team members in Marketing, Sales, Support, and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active leader in defining corporate standards for user research, information architecture, interaction design, usability evaluation, and accessibility evaluation
  • Work closely with customers and partners to garner feedback and understand their evolving business needs
  • Partner with Product, Marketing and Technology leaders to interpret internal and external needs and assess priority in designing solutions that ensure the products work for our diverse user/customer base
  • Lead the definition of product requirements using input from various sources including external sources such as market trends, technology innovations, industry regulations, competitive intelligence, and customers as well as internal sources such as sales, marketing, and customer support
  • Assume product ownership and manage the entire product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical execution
  • Work with internal Product team to develop and centrally manage prototyping artifacts process and procedures to communicate and obtain sign off on UI/UX standards through prototype demos
  • Help devise hypotheses and validate through formal testing (e.g. A/B, multivariate) 
  • Contribute to product strategy and roadmaps, develop product opportunity assessments, conduct competitive analysis, define user and buyer personas
  • Evaluate and recommend third party software, hardware, and services related to UX activities
  • Recommend and evaluate candidates for UX team

 

Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years of B2B software product design experience, preferably building & releasing technically complex offerings and ideally in the Shipping & Logistics industry
  • 5+ years of experience using industry standard design tools
  • Experience with all aspects of UX design and an expert at one or more of these aspects, including user research, information architecture, interaction design, usability evaluation, and accessibility evaluation.
  • Direct experience developing technology products for cloud-based SaaS companies, preferably with portfolios that feature modern API or middleware products
  • Experience working with data visualizations for the web
  • Strong communication skills; ability to speak to, as well as influence, engineers, project managers, sales counterparts, corporate leadership, partners, and customers
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to rapidly develop and cultivate relationships with peers, partners, and key influencers
  • Ability to see all tasks through to completion, consistently, with a high attention to detail
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies and have worked on a full lifecycle project from requirements gathering to release
  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree required in Interaction Design, Product/Uscability Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design or related field and experience
  • This position requires occasional travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America
