MAIN COURSE (Job Responsibilities):Join our small close-knit legal team and work cross functionally with every department in our company. We help keep everything legit by conducting IP clearance, reviewing contracts and marketing materials, handling product claims, and ensuring compliance of corporate practices. We also provide education to all departments on legal issues.
- Conduct USPTO, German & Canadian Intellectual Property searches, clear proposed product names, designs and marketing materials. Manage Company’s trademark and patent portfolio.
- Protect the Companies Brand, Trademarks and Patents by acting on parties infringing on the Company’s Intellectual Property and shutting down unauthorized online sellers.
- Perform regulatory research and ensure compliance with FCC, FDA, GDPR, Prop 65, GMO and data privacy laws.
- Review and Negotiate contracts such as NDA, PSA, SOW, MSA, purchase orders, and technology agreements.
- Review and respond to legal documents, correspondence, discovery, subpoenas, employment verifications, bankruptcy notices and wage garnishments.
- File 3rd party claims with the Company Insurance Carrier and prepare unpaid claims for litigation.
- Oversee and direct external counsel within pre-set budgets and under General Counsel’s instructions.
- Provide support and assistance across all Company business units, with a heavy concentration on supporting Product Development, Marketing and Information Technology.
- A Juris Doctor degree is required.
- 0-3 years of relevant experience in a law firm or as a law clerk.
- A motivated individual who is flexible and has the acumen to provide support to the General Counsel in an effort to advance the strategic, operational and business objectives of the Company.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise workload, perform with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Background experience working in a corporate setting is preferred.
