Are you someone that is driven by providing excellent system performance? Do you find it important to provide maximum availability of systems for customers? If yes, then we want YOU!

As Peapod continues to grow, the pull on our systems is greater and greater.  In this position your primary focus will be to install and maintain UNIX operating systems and servers and you will be utilizing various technologies including VMware, Java, Apache, Tomcat, and Open Source tools.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Server administration and system maintenance.
  • Partnering with Peapod’s software development teams to design the infrastructure.
  • Evaluating system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Deployment of new servers.
  • Implementation planning and enterprise-wide backups.
  • Developing tools for managing the system more efficiently and making recommendations for system improvements.
  • Assisting the Network Engineering team with network design.
  • Providing rotating 24x7 on-call support for Peapod’s Technical Assistance Center.

 

Qualifications

Experience

Required

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

2+ years of UNIX administration.

Ability to write scripts in administrative languages, i.e. Perl and k-shell.

Must be familiar with shell and kernel level programming.
