Web Strategist
Palantir.net is a renowned design, development, and strategy firm that uses open source technologies to help enable people to share information in new and exciting ways.
At Palantir, Web Strategists employ a broad understanding of and experience working on the Web to connect client business goals and objectives to web-based strategies, solutions and deliverables that will produce the desired business outcomes for our clients. Web Strategists help clients understand their needs at a high level and translate those into actionable work for the discipline specialists (designers, developers, engineers, etc.), who will perform the work of designing and building the site. Web Strategist’s work is performed in coordination and consultation with designers and developers, and other discipline experts, who provide the knowledge depth required to ensure the best decisions are made.
Primary responsibilitiesLead the Discovery and Strategy phases of client projects
In collaboration with a Technical Lead, provide ownership, personal responsibility, and leadership in the project and for the project team throughout the duration of a project
Define the goals of the project and confirm those with the client and team
Define the measures by which success will be determined in achieving the goals and confirm those with the client and team
Define the solution to achieve the goals and confirm those with the client and team (with the assistance of a Tech Lead and Design Lead)
Monitor execution of the work throughout the project to ensure alignment with goals
Address and reconcile any changes to the strategic plan during the project, and confirm those with the client and team
Secondary responsibilities
Web Strategists may have additional specializations, which Palantir will look for in applicants. Applicants are not expected to have expertise in all of these areas, though a general knowledge is good.

perform a site audit of content
define the types of content that exists
define the purpose of each type of content
define the structure of each type of content
define the creation and publication process of content
define the content lifecycle process (i.e. content governance planning)
define new types of content
define ideal content forms, messages, and techniques
gather existing content
edit or recommend edits to existing content
Web Strategists who specialize in Information Architecture may
perform a site structure audit (site mapping)
perform usability tests on the existing structure (menus and labels)
perform card sorting tests with potential users of the site
define a new information architecture with new menu structures and labels
perform usability tests on the new structure (menus and labels)
define URL structures
define types of navigation
define use of taxonomy and terms
Web Strategists who specialize in User Experience may
create user flow diagrams to map desired outcomes
create wireframes that map content strategy work to specific pages
define the effective purpose of content on wireframes
define the sources of content on the wireframes
define any content requirements for the page
define required functionality within the wireframes
define specifically desired actions or conversions for the wireframes (CTAs)
perform usability tests on the wireframes with potential users of the site
Web Strategists who specialize in Analytics may
perform an analysis of existing site usage data
define custom tracking and goals to be set up to properly track important behaviors
define an overall analytics strategy for the site based on business goals
build custom reports within the tracking tool or another accessible tool to expose key metrics to the client
assess feedback and learnings from user surveys/research
oversee qualitative research
explain analytic methodologies to the client and internal teams
track and relate competitive analysis data where applicable to inform overall project strategy

Works as part of a production team alongside project managers, designers, developers, and engineers
